Three Steers 22.11.2020

For all those who have served and continue to serve our great Country, so we can enjoy the freedoms we do today. Thank you.

It’s that time of year... You could have asked for permission to go on our land. I might have even told you where the good spots are. You could have used the gate only a few hundred metres down. It’s even a newer steel gate with an easy chain to open. Probably would have been faster than getting your wire cutters out. ... You could have driven on the trail. It’s much faster and easier than bouncing your truck all across the pasture. You could have walked in like the respectful people we do allow on our land. Maybe you even could have snuck up on a big buck that way. But no, instead you decided to cut the fence. You then decided to break two fence posts as you drove though. Then you proceeded to leave tire tracks across sensitive native grasslands... All in a pasture that you could see has cattle in it! Not only did you risk my family’s cattle and land, you also caused me to miss half a day of work, so I could deal with the mess you left. That land you enjoy trespassing on unfortunately doesn’t pay for itself. I hope you got what you were looking for and that it makes up for the loss you’ve caused my family in more ways than one. I also hope you realize that it’s because of people like you that we have new trespassing laws in our province. It’s not hard to be respectful. It actually probably would have been easier! But I’m glad my kids got a good lesson in respect today and how not to be an a** hole. They may have also learned some choice words for you along the way, and this time I won’t be apologizing to the teacher about their choice of words!

I sold my calves last week and have been struggling to figure out how to put it into words. My friend Marissa sums it up pretty good. My Heart... my heart always says yes #CelebrateAg

Did you know 98% of farms are family owned? This past week I went back to my family’s ranch where my two younger sisters were sorting and selling this year’s calves. I couldn’t be more proud of them for stepping up, making sure the cattle are well looked after and for my Mom doing the thankless behind the scenes jobs to keep everything running smoothly! Seeing the calves sell showed their hard work paying off. This weekend I am thankful for family, friends, and neighbours. ...The agriculture community is truly something to be thankful for! Wishing everyone a very happy Thanksgiving! #CelebrateAg
