Thrive NeuroSport Rehabilitation & Performance 19.01.2021

Hi friends! I’ve made the tough decision to go completely virtual for telehealth physio appointments as of February 1st. Your health and safety is my priority. This choice is primarily based on the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic. My practice is part-time while I’m completing a PhD full-time, so I feel it’s best to move online until I can offer the most optimal environment! ... Research has demonstrated that telehealth can be just as effective as in-person visits to guide your recovery & performance needs. Stay tuned for updates on my return, big things are coming in 2021! Send me an email [email protected] to book a virtual appointment!

Feeling stressed? Who’s with me?! 2020/21 has felt like we’re on a never-ending Merry-go-round of challenges Imagine you could see how your autonomic system is responding to stressors? ... Heart Rate Variability (HRV)is one tool I use to do this. I’ve found this to be invaluable for both in-clinic & recovery data, as well for Telehealth patients! Objective data not only gives you clinical insight beyond appointments, it empowers the patient to have more control over physical and cognitive stress! Have a listen! To learn more & level-up your practice, hop on my CNS-Ed contact list for upcoming course info! Link in the biooo

Be better, friends. From the wise words of @beer_diversity I know I’m not the only one who still trying to piece together the events of this week. ... Healthcare & movement friends, I put this challenge out there... Instead of focusing on introducing some new variation of glut activation , Try asking your BIPOC & American patients/clients with intent, how are you doing? This isn’t the first hit, it’s been going on for years.. We know that stress, fatigue, & fear can wreak havoc on our health. In our role, it can feel difficult to preach politics & events of the world.. Regardless of what you choose, what we can do better is empower people with healthy coping & mgmt strategies during this astronomically difficult time. Communicate. Empathize. Educate & Empower. Don’t be afraid to address the in the room. What do you think? Let’s talk, I want to hear more about what others are doing Thrive on, friends

Ya, that’s right I get asked about who I can help all of the time! People often say, ..well I’m not an athlete.. ..But then go on to tell me they are frequent runners, road cyclists, , x-c skiers, golfers, , paddlers, dancers, ...... Or perhaps they were highly competitive growing up playing hockey, soccer, rugby, volleyball... (yes, this is me!) Even if you’re aren’t competing now & perhaps your goals are now to remain active for lifestyle goals, You. Are. Still. An. Athlete. I believe in an athlete spectrum model from recreational to elite/pro. NeuroSport represents the athlete for life, not just on the field/ice! Who agrees with me?!

ATTENTION Want to challenge single-leg balance more than tossing/catching a ball? Level up! ... Balance control is challenged more so when attentional resources are extended with additional tasks, esp Yes, you can use feedforward movements with a reactive component (Go/No-Go)@fitlighttraining This is a great way to strengthen LE control for both ortho (ACL, labral repairs, ankle sprains, etc) & concussion recovery Think outside the box without the circus acts!
