Congratulations Joe Biden & Kamala Harris. While I may be the first woman in this office, I will not be the lastbecause every little girl watching tonight sees that this is a country of possibilities.

The Women Empowerment Desk (WED) under CTA in collaboration with the Central Tibetan Women’s Association (TWA) has initiated and set up a women Helpline service... with the intend to provide immediate and emergency/non-emergency responses and information services to women, children or person affected by violence especially SGBV, both in public and private spaces through referral by linking them with appropriate authorities such as police, hospital, and legal etc from a uniform number. The helpline number is 01892220120. It operates from 10:00am to 6:00pm,Monday-Friday. Since this is a pilot program, at the initial stage we have planned to cover Tibetan communities in the state of Himachal Pradesh only. Women of all ages, irrespective of one’s background with any cases of gender-based violence are welcome to make use of the service provided by the Desk.

The longest serving Tibetan political prisoner (37 years in prison), Takna Jigme Sangpo (1926-2020) passed away yesterday in exile. He was 94. With this the four legendary Tibetan political prisoners: Ani Pachen, Palden Gyatso, Ama Adhe and now Takna Jigme Sangpo have all left the world. An era has come to an end. Please pray for a speedy rebirth to a Gangchenpa.
