As the COVID era comes closer to its end and life slowly begins to return to normal, the courts are contemplating extending their closure till September. I find this disturbing as there is no reason for this even in a full blown COVID pandemic. Our courts are all equipped with state of the art phone systems and the law already allows for court appearances by phone so the fact that they remain closed and even want to extend that closure is nothing short of a violation of every accused persons rights. And, I am going to say it despite the potential repercussions, it is a sign of the laziness of the powers to be as it is much easier to close than it is to actually do their jobs.

Everyone is feeling the pain of the COVID 19 pandemic in one way or another. We feel it here as well. Yet we continue to work to insure the smooth flow of services for anyone accused of an offence. The doors of all the courts in Ontario are closed. All hearings of any sort scheduled between March 17 and May 29, 2020 are being adjourned administratively. Although the doors are closed, the work continues. There are hard working people still at the court sending out new notic...es to each and every accused person or company indicating the new court hearing date. It is essential that anyone who has hired representation, be that us here at Your Traffic Ticket Terminators or elsewhere, it is essential you contact your representative and let them know the new date once you receive it. It feels good to beat serious charges. I am happy to report that we have successfully terminated a number of them yet again.

Accidents happen every day. What is most disturbing however is that most accidents could have been prevented by drivers simply making the decision to abide by the rules of the road. Of course, those who choose not to do this often end up in my office or in one of my competitors offices. That is great because I am a firm believer in the fact that everyone is entitled to their day in court and to have the charges proven beyond a reasonable doubt. But like with most things, if y...ou simply prevent accidents by thinking ahead, and being proactive in your planning so you don't needs to be in a hurry to get somewhere, then you will be much further ahead. Yes, I will not be needed by you and I'm OK with that as there are plenty of persons out there being wrongly accused of things they didn't do and of course there will always be that contingent of society that has no regard for rules or law. So I will never be without work. But for you, save your money, save someone's life ,save your own life, by driving responsibly. Very shortly, new rules are going to kick in that will have little to no mercy for those who make wrong choices. The penalties will hurt. They may change your life. An exciting new year has begun. Many things are expected to change this year when it comes to Traffic Law and the courts.
