A previously overlooked report that details 45 years of observation of the ecology, behaviour and conservation need of the Galapagos population of Caribbean fla...mingos has recently come to light. Based on studies of the birds by island warden Jacinto Gordillo, and summarised by Robert Tindle in the current volume of Galapagos Research, the report provides some of the first examples of attempts at documenting and understanding the flamingo's complicated courtship display, observed in wild birds.
