Due to some hotter daily temperatures July and early August, the average daily price of electricity has risen. Those customers on a variable rate will notice this on their upcoming electricity bill, especially if they're using air conditioning units in their homes. To monitor it yourself, here's a great resource to see up-to-the-day electricity prices in Alberta: https://www.utilitynet.net/services/pricealert.html With the gradual trend of cooling temperatures as August prog...resses, the costs will likely fall and settle again. To take action, you can a) use your online dashboard switch within 10 days to the fixed rates to enjoy a known rate, currently at 6.49 c/kWh (Flexi 1, Flexi 3) -- no penalties to switch; or b) sign up for Price Alerts to come to your email at [email protected]

Electricity rates by the Regulated RRO's increased July 1, 2020. In contrast, utilitynet.ca/donpalm.html rates are 1.7 cents lower than the current lowest RRO. "On a comparative basis, during the last three months, small energy retailers in Alberta continued to outperform the government-regulated utilities. Residential consumers still swimming around with the big utilities paid over 25% more for the energy they consumed compared to lower variable rate prices charged by others...." "On Canada Day, Alberta utilities, which are selling electricity, priced based on the Regulated Rate Option (RRO), increased their rates. This was nothing to celebrate. Direct Energy increased their prices by 9%, ENMAX pushed prices up by 15%, and EPCOR increased their RRO by 24%. Simply put, Albertans still on the RRO will see their electricity bills go up in July." - Nick Clark, Utilitynet See more

Here's why I chose to switch utility providers nearly 2 years ago, and why I recommend them to my friends. ------- If you talk to most people, they only know of the big 4 corporations (Epcor, Enmax, Atco, Direct Energy). That's because those are the "default" regulators you get automatically assigned to, unless you go shopping for one of the retailers, one of which is Utilitynet. Funnily, ALL those 4 corps have created a "retail branch" of their company so they can resell (re...tail) outside of their designated market regions. For example, Enmax is owned by City of Calgary, but here in Sylvan Lake, I can buy from Enmax's Retail division. (And it's different rates than the Enmax Regulated division because they're retailing it to us.) Funny eh?! Same thing goes for Epcor, Direct Energy, and Atco. Also check if any of those 4 are purely Albertan and quickly discover they've significantly invested or farmed out AB jobs to foreigners. Surprise!! We thought it was Alberta we were supporting... not entirely. The worst one is Direct Energy, because they're owned by Centrica in the UK, and they've managed to stay as one of the default regulator optons in Alberta, plus they're a retailer! Talk about taking the whole pie! It maddens me that many many many Albertans are buying their energy from the UK, right out from under our noses. Beyond that you'll hear "Just Energy" or "Xoom Energy", both of which are American owned who have opened offices in Canada. You may have checked into the ucahelps.alberta.ca when you can check and compare options unbiased. This all-Alberta is listed among the many others there, and is often very competitive, and very flexible plans can be changed from your phone with a few clicks. Definitely very fair rates and worthwhile looking at. Nicest thing is there are no penalties or contracts, and the help desk is in Calgary staffed by Albertans who are buying utilities for their homes just like you and me. Please look into this alternative and feel good about what you're doing to help other Albertans. Note: I'm a parttime independent Marketing Executive for UTILITYnet.ca, and I do not work as an employee of Utilitynet. I'm happy to answer questions via private message. utilitynet.ca/donpalm.html

This retailer's variable electricity rates are low right now. You can take advantage of this dip today, then lock into a low fixed rate when the variable rate climbs again. This is the power of a flexible plan that I can connect you to. Call me and I'll briefly explain how. #allAlbertanUtilityOption #saveonutilitybills #variableratesarelow

Did you happen to see that I'm a Marketing Associate of an all-Albertan utility provider? I'm happy to promote my utility retailer who's been in business for over 40 years in Calgary. They have a fascinating history, and are privately owned by Nick Clark and Madeline Low. They're a small company compared to the utility regulated "giants" who typically provide your utilities. We started using them in Sept 2018, and have been very happy with the flexibility to switch between v...ariable or fixed rates without any penalties nor long notice. We just login and make a couple clicks. This is where you save the money. I began the application process in January when I saw they offered a referral program. I thought, "This is a company I can really endorse wholeheartedly". If you haven't done a review of your utilities, it'll be worth the effort. Can I do a bill comparison for you? Let me know. #AlbertaUtilities #CompareMyUtililityBill #WhyAreMyBillsSoHigh
