This is the first long weekend of the summer . Please follow the wise words of Emergency personnel. The first summer long weekend is almost upon us. Traditionally this has always been a busy weekend for emergency veterinary hospitals and we are already stretched to meet the demands on a normal weekend. In order for us to be able to serve those in need, please do everything you can to avoid having to bring your pet to us.... Do not walk your flat faced dog on hot days Do not let your dog off leash Do not let your cat outside (this means balconies too) Do not go to the cottage for 3 days and leave your cat "to his own devices" Do not run out of food or choose to switch foods Do not run out of your pets medications Do not decide to "get that lameness/lump/sound" checked out this weekend because now you have time Do not let your dog out of your sight in the park and or put them in a situation where you have cause to wonder if they could have eaten something Do not leave food/medications/garbage or edibles out where your pet might eat them Do not bring plants or flowers into the house without first checking to see if they are poisonous Do not decide to groom your matted dog with scissors or trim nails if you have never done it before Do not let your pet play unsupervised with a toy This weekend - treat your pet like you would a 3 month old baby. We will reach capacity. We will have to say no. Please - participate in keeping all the pets safe this weekend. Be vigilant. It could be yours that we have to say no to.

Sadly it is time to re-post this...please be kind and patient.....we are doing our best! Dear Pet Owners, That veterinarian you just berated over your veterinary bill (that could’ve been much less if you had pet insurance or followed the vet’s advice on preventative medicine) actually discounted as much as they could because they know times are tight. ... That vet tech you just yelled at because they took too long bringing your dog out to them, they just helped euthanize a patient they’ve taken care of for the last ten years. That clinic you’ve never been to before and just gave a nasty, 1 star review to because they wouldn’t see your dog on a non-emergency without an appointment at closing time, they just had a jam packed day where no one got a bathroom break. That veterinary receptionist you just yelled at over the phone because there isn’t an appointment available for you today is juggling checking clients in and out, answering the phones, and taking deposits for surgeryall at the same time. That ER Vet staff that you just screamed at for taking so long on triage just performed CPR on a patient for an hour before the owners decided to let the pet go. Veterinary professionals are suffering. We truly do want the best for your pets and we will do all we canbut at the end of the day we can only do so much. It costs nothing to be kind. But cruelty and callousness cost lives. We are all stressed and stretched thin. A little kindness goes a long way. Shared from: Written by Elizabeth Salan See more

With the warmer weather and people out gardening, here’s a great chart to refer to when purchasing plants your pets will have access to
