In September of 2020, TRS began work on the Bayswater Covered Bridge in the Milkish Inlet, located in the Kingston Peninsula, near Saint John, New Brunswick. With affiliate partner company Wood Research and Development (WRD) as the designer of this bridge restoration, this project is slated to finish by the end of the year. This is a major covered bridge repair/restoration. The bridge was built in 1920, and has undergone many repairs, but not quite like this. Each girder is 19,000 lbs, and is almost 120 ft long! Stay up to date on our blog, our Facebook page, and on our YouTube Channel, where we’ll be unveiling the final result!

The beauty of this completed bridge, along with the background scenery and clear water is an absolute "picture-perfect" display. How does this not want to make you move to Australia? Thanks to our Canadian-Down-Under, Chad for the amazing drone footage! If you want to learn more about the project, head over to our blog and read up on it!... www.timberrs.com #timberconstruction #timberbridges #timberrestoration

With mass timber structures, it's like playing with giant Lego. Big, beautiful Lego pieces. Our beloved Tim and Mark from the Moncton office took a roadtrip out to Nova Scotia to unload this truck. It's all hands on deck with TRS. We're looking for Field Technicians in the Moncton area. If you or someone you know who may be interested, apply today and you can join in on our amazing projects!

Here's a throwback from 2013! Alderley Avenue bridge was a retrofit project in Australia. It's a two lane bridge that goes over the Queensland Rail railroad line. After an inspection done by Wood Research And Development, the client wanted to replace the deck, and put us to the test to salvage the deteriorating piles. Challenge accepted. The bridge is still going strong today! ... Check out the blog, to see what we did on this project. #timberrestoration #timberbridges #timberbridgerestoration

Work is about to get started on site in Nova Scotia! We are going to be replacing an old steel bridge, with a beautifully design timber bridge! This bridge will be connecting several communities together again for at least another 75-100 years!

This was a HUGE project to do, and it's now complete! After many hours, the South Arm Bridge in Brunswick Heads, Australia is one for the books! Thanks to everyone involved for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to this project. Originally built in 1958-59, we ensured that we made use of the existing timbers when possible, and made sure it was given the best protection using our methods, and making sure this bridge lasts for many lifetimes. If you're interested in le...arning more about the project, stay tuned later this week for the blog post, written by our very own Davide Maggiolo. www.timberrs.com #projectcomplete #timberrestoration #timberbridges

Remember the fully assembled bridge from our plant that we posted 2 weeks ago? Things are moving, and we are happy to be bringing the surrounding communities back together with that exact timber bridge! Since the previous bridge was damaged (and over 100 years old), the TRS family is very excited to be starting the installation very soon. Please keep up to date with this project (and many more) at www.timberrs.com.

"The largely prefabricated CLT structure will be assembled in less than six weeks, after the foundation has been completed, shaving weeks off the time to construct a concrete structure." It's so great to see mass timber buildings being built across Canada. This is definitely the way to go, and they look way better. #timberbuildings

Here's a throwback to 2015! Look how much easier it is to build up a timber bridge, compared to other construction materials. This bridge was completed fairly quickly, and is a lot stronger than it originally was. Here's to another 50+ years! #timbertalk #timberbridges

"When thinking of building structures of any type, we - as a society tend to think of using concrete and steel first right? Why? It’s because that’s what we’ve been taught in the last century. It’s tough, durable, and reliable. Right? Well, there’s a somewhat new player around now, and it looks like it can be be stronger, more durable, and more cost-effective." Another timber bridge goes to site. Timber bridges are growing in popularity around the world. Here is another 35m clear span, girder under, two lane, 62.5 T vehicle bridge with a truck crash proof rail system preassembled in our manufacturing plant. The next step is to pressure treat it then will be shipped to the site for a five day installation. Once this is complete, it will be ready for vehicle traffic right away, unlike concrete where it needs time to settle before regu...lar traffic can resume. This bridge has a design life of 100 years. Concrete and steel cannot do that. Ever. Bridge owners have realized that their concrete bridges cannot last 100 years as the concrete industry said they would. In addition, they are now becoming much more costly to build as concrete bridge construction methods have had to incorporate expensive quality control, and construction techniques, in an attempt to extend life and reduce high maintenance costs. Timber bridges are the winning choice, and it's making a huge comeback.

Here's a quick look back on when we took a decommissioned rail bridge, and restored it into an awesome timber pedestrian bridge in Australia.

One cool thing about restoring older timber bridges, is that there is a glimpse from our past. Someone from 1930 just had to carve their initials, and left their mark for the people of today.

Back on February 11, 2020, TRS replaced a bridge in Cowley Creek, Australia. The Cowley Creek Bridge was previously a single-lane timber bridge which had a restricted load limit. It has been replaced with a double-lane timber bridge, with guardrails on both bridge approaches to improve safety. Here's a quick video we did when we craned the new glulam superstructure onto the new abutment. Also: look how beautiful the surrounding area is. Doesn't it make you want to visit Aus...tralia? Bonus points if you know what greenery is surrounding the bridge site!
