This is the greatest way I've seen a business ask for a review. A case study: Woven Threads - Handcrafted Ceremonies emailed me an appropriate amount of time after consuming their service and asked for a review () and in it, what I loved: () They asked for the review... () They provided the links () They provided writing prompts and instructions, and () Asked for what they wanted. It was personalized, not pushy and sweet. THIS is a perfect case study of how you ask for a review.

You know those "get to know you posts"? I want you to get to know me, but in more than single words and emojis. I grew up pretty poor, and money was beyond us.That still sits with me in my soul, and I still have some funny ideas about money. But I'm good with it. I wrestled with addiction. It's not a problem anymore. I'm glad I learned to make my sobriety journey my own.... I got married this year. Getting married in a pandemic was a constant roller coaster, but we felt like we had to because nobody is guaranteed time and we wanted to make that commitment. And, gay people marrying is still a relatively new concept so it was also kind of political. I hate Facebook. I know this is my job. But I hate Facebook. I've picked up hobby photography. I got a Canon Rebel T7 for my own Instagram but now it's a hobby. I'm constantly embarrassed by (other) men on social media, because I have consulted for a lot of women who hate certain platforms (usually LinkedIn or Twitter) because men make sexual advances. It's gross. As a social media marketer, Instagram and LinkedIn are my jam. I'm well versed and trained in the others, but I LOVE IG + LI. So tell me a good, juicy, something about yourself (if you're willing to share).

Let's talk about ethics in consulting. Because it's not a hot topic and not enough coaches or consultants have it. For reference, on my website (at the bottom) is my Code of Practice. It governs my work both with clients and the public. When I started, I wondered what my ethical duties were as a consultant. And I couldn't find any anywhere. So, to be a business for good and to sleep at night, I created my own code of ethics. If you're in a field that doesn't have a governing ...code of ethics, I recommend you create your own. What's core to the ethics of my work: I will always work, and stay within, my scope of practice. I won't touch a website, I won't play with SMS marketing and you'll never find me speaking about topics that aren't social media or marketing. I will always explain why I'm making a recommendation. Either referring you to someone, choosing one service or another or why we should pursue a particular social media strategy. And, you always have buy in on that process. I will always be upfront and honest. I will terminate a relationship the second I don't think it's working, and not drag your money along. I will protect everything you give me or tell me and uphold strict privacy measures. I will put your happiness and success above all else. If working with me no longer means you're happy or as successful as you could be, I will step back. I will always approach conflict with a spirit of grace, and with the goal of a win/win scenario.
