Heres a little rundown of some of the unique and notable features of #OneYoung, thanks to @adam_clark_cok s Twitter account #repost "1) How precisely the bui...lding matches the height of its neighbour along King St. This is not easy to do! One building is office, the other residential. One is new, the other historical. It takes skill (and luck!) to create this kind of harmony in streetwall height. 2) Hard to see, but zoom in if you can; the way the timber columns are visible through not only the vision glass, but the Mayfair-patterned glass as well. Gives the cladding an ephemeral quality that deftly navigates the space between contemporary design and heritage tribute. 3) The rhythms of the mullion design. From a construction standpoint, theres no need to design the glass in sections of varying sizes like this. But doing so creates one consistent pattern of expression between both the modern glass wall and the traditional brick pattern. Done correctly, as it has been here, you might never notice it (which is a good thing!). Done poorly, it would look awkward, disjointed, and out of phase." Topping out is an ancient ceremony for construction - a sign that a construction project has reached its literal apogee, its most auspicious point. One Young is coming along, day by day. This job consists of #glulam columns and beams supporting 2x10 #NLT floors. Once complete, this building will have 7 levels constructed of mass timber.

What is NLT (Nail Laminated Timber)? As many of you may not know, NLT, simply put, is standard dimensional lumber (24, 26, 28, 210, or 212), standing on its narrow edge, nailed together in an approved, engineered pattern. Although many companies produce NLT by hand, Timmerman has revolutionized this process and lays up panels on a machine that can robotically nail together each board. Our NLT machine can fabricate panels up to a 48 length and our standard panel width i...s 8 but we have the capability of producing panels up to 10 wide. These panels work great in both commercial and residential projects as a structural floor or roof where the underside of the panel can be left unfinished for a unique wood ceiling. Not only does Timmerman fabricate our own panels (including cutouts for openings such as stairs or mechanical units), but we also install this product on site. Wood design was celebrated yesterday in Ontario by recognizing 6 wood buildings with awards. We are excited to announce that Timmerman supplied and installed the wood products for 2 of the 6 awarded buildings. 80 Atlantic won the Mass Timber Wood Design Award and the Kenora Terminal Building (Airport) won the award for Low Rise Commercial Wood Design. Here are some progress shots of our rebuild at Agincourt Recreation Centre in Scarborough. About 1 year ago, the centre suffered a massive fire. Although the damage was significant, the major systems and structures remained intact, which allowed for everyone to evacuate safely. Timmerman staff has been working hard to assist in the rebuild of the rec centre. Here are some progress shots of our process.

CYPRUS LAKE WEEK 4!! This is going to be a beautiful Amenity Building! Our crew really knows how to work as a team. Moving these massive assembled pieces can definitely be tricky-but with the help of an amazing crane operator, a few lifts and a lot of mastered skill, they carefully manage to turn sticks into buildings!
