My good friend Jim Henman, cofounder of April Wine, and local song writer and musician wrote a little song for my campaign! Big shoutout to Jim for sending this my way, and doing a fantastic job of summing up my goals and ideas for our district. The song was recorded on his iPhone, check it out below!

Spent this fantastic afternoon speaking with the fine folks from Ecum Secum, Necum Teuch, Moser River, and Sheet Harbour. What we heard today: - Many feeling out east is being neglected by HRM - District 2 communities needing to work together more... - Inadequate cell and internet service - Youth having little access to recreation programs Also had a great conversation with the crew from Sober Island Brewing Company about local business, community projects, and Sheet Harbour.

Many thanks to PlayGroundology for conducting the "Children and the City" Survey. They asked four important questions about the issues our children/youth face, and what we can do moving forward to promote a healthy and safe life for our kids. COMMUNITY GARDENS Community Gardens is something I believe has limitless benefits. They create a unique opportunity for those who can’t grow from home, aids in local food insecurity, creates a valuable educational tool, and creates a sense of community pride. If elected to HRM Council I plan to advocate for the creation of more community gardens in our district. Musquodoboit Harbour’s garden seems to be a fantastic project, and we should extend that to other communities. I ...plan to urge our communities to complete the application to form a non-profit society, and complete the needed Community Engagement signatures page to create community gardens. Doing the reasonable thing and removing all my elections signs temporarily for the impending storm. The HRM Emergency Management Office is asking ALL election signs be taken down. I urge, and also hope, all other candidates do this as well. The last thing we need is election signs causing flying debris and litter.

Tim Milligan 24.08.2020

Yes, my signs are slowly disappearing. But don't worry, it's for good reason. With Teddy impacting our area the next few days, HRM has requested election signs be temporarily removed. We are complying with said request, and will be finishing the job today. Please if you have a lawn sign bring it inside for the next few days to avoid losing the sign to wind and causing flying debris & litter. Thanks!

Hey Folks - I have been hearing in the past few years that people want change in the leadership at the municipal level. That is one of the reasons why I am running in this election. On my election signs it says its "Time for Tim", that is not meant to be arrogant, it represents a time for CHANGE. There’s a saying that says: "if you focus on results you will not get change, but if you focus on change you will see results". ... So this October VOTE for CHANGE, Vote for Tim. It’s Time For Tim!

Hope to see you there, and to answer any questions/concerns you may have!

PUBLIC TRANSIT Let’s face it, our current public transit service does NOT serve our district. We NEED to:... - Have Weekend Routes - Look at ways to possibly expand service into Lawrencetown, Musquodoboit Harbour and their surrounding communities - More Frequent Routes - Urging for the investment of Bus Shelters in some areas We need reliable transit to serve our working people, students, and those who simply wish to visit Cole Harbour, Dartmouth, or Halifax. Our current plan has a very 9 to 5 work schedule in mind with it’s route times. We need more frequent routes & weekend routes to serve those working evening and weekend shifts. I hear those of you who are so frustrated with existing transit service - and if elected, I will be your voice to improve upon this faulty service.

GREAT day of canvassing today in Lake Echo! What we heard today: - Public Transit DOES NOT serve our communities, and needs drastic improvements - Concerns about bears and green bins... - Frequent opposition to the C/D facility in the area - An overall need for change & effort from our councillor Thank you to all of those who answered doors today, and provided some valuable input. We are wearing our masks and keeping our distance in accordance with COVID-19. Can’t wait to visit more communities soon! #TimeForTim

It's looking more and more likely we will be impacted by Hurricane Teddy in some capacity next week. Please be prepared for power outages, and keep checking updated forecasts from Environment Canada at https://weather.gc.ca/hurricane/track_e.html HRM is also asking all candidates to remove election signs before the storm. Over the coming days my team and I will look to take down our signs. I ask those of you with signs in your lawn to temporarily remove them to avoid wind taking the signs and causing flying debris and litter.

FAQs What are your top priorities for the district? Improving the public transit system, getting our communities invested in, and traffic issues (sidewalks,crosswalks).... Do you oppose the C/D project in Lake Echo/Porters Lake? Yes. This project does not belong in our residential communities. I support councils current effort of a land swap. Council has also mentioned expropriation as a last-ditch option, which I support. If elected, I will attempt to prevent this facility to my best ability. Are you in favour of the CFL stadium in Halifax? Not now. At one point I was in favour if the deal made sense. Now with COVID, the future of the CFL and other leagues is highly uncertain. It does not make sense to invest tax dollars into a stadium at this time. What are your priorities for the most rural areas of district 2? It’s time you folks were represented. People were shocked to see us going door to door in Necum Teuch, Ecum Secum, and Moser River. These communities are HRM just as Porters Lake and Dartmouth are HRM. These communities need investments, improved internet access, mental health services, community programs, etc. Are you in favour of defunding the police? No. We must however look at improving their mental health training. In my 15 years of service within mental health and addiction groups I’ve seen firsthand mental health MUST be taken seriously. Our officers need sufficient training in this area, and this is something I will continue to advocate for. Why you? I’m not an experienced politician. I want to go into this position with a fresh perspective on the issues we face. I’ve got 15 years of experience in mental health non-profits representing Nova Scotia and Newfoundland & Labrador. I know what it takes to represent a large and diverse geographic region. I went into this with no personal agenda - feedback from the communities has crafted my entire platform. It’s time for you to be heard. What is your political party? I’ve never been tied to one specific party. I tend to go into elections with an open mind, and make a decision by election day.

Thank you to Suzette and the wonderful CTV News crew for speaking with me about polls opening, voter turnout, and the uniqueness of a political campaign in the midst of COVID.
