THE LEGEND.......Father Les Costello ...."Fr. Hockey".....a Heavenly Canadian Hero. A Maple Leafs fan died and went to Heaven, he was met at the pearly whit...e gates by St.Peter who offered to escort the new arrival on a tour of the Magnificent Celestial Kingdom. As they walked through the beautiful surrounds, the Leafs fan was amazed...........he noticed what looked to be a hockey rink in the distance and asked the Saint if he could go and see it.......St. Peter replied "Yes indeed, I will show you the wonder of God." As they neared closer the rink, the Leafs fan was struck in awe as he saw two hockey players tearing up and down the ice. Ducking and diving, twisting and turning, the skaters were graceful and lightning fast, they made moves with such skill as to seem impossible for any mere mortal. The Leafs fan turned to St. Peter.......trembling with excitement.....tears welling up in his eyes he asked 'who can these two divine hockey players possibly be? ' Saint Peter replied, "Well that's the dynamic duo......Mr. Hockey - Gordie Howe & Fr. Hockey - Les Costello......they are both former NHL champions. Gordie played for the Detroit Red Wings and Les played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, he won the Stanley Cup in 1948. But more importantly Fr. Les preached the word of the Lord, helped the poor and championed the less fortunate in society." "Mr. Hockey & Fr. Hockey are now team mates here in Paradise, coached by God Himself. They are the leading Angels on the 'HEAVENLY HEROES' hockey team, last week they beat 'Lucifer's Louts' 10 to nothing. Tonight we have another big grudge type game against the Devil's own 'Satan's Shooters'. No need to worry about the outcome,.....we always beat the HELL out of them." The Miracle on Ice continues with the Flying Fathers Playing and Praying for a Better World.............and Canada's Flying Father - Fr. Les Costello undoubtedly smiling down from above. New Food Bank Procedures Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis the Timmins Food Bank is implementing an operational change. Effective Immediately the Timmins Food Bank will follow the following procedures on Food Bank days:... 1. Doors to the Food Bank on Spruce Street will open at 8:15 AM 2. Food Bank will be set up in the Lord’s Kitchen 3. Couples and individual patrons will, AT ALL TIMES, keep a minimum of 6 feet apart 4. The registration desk will be set up 10 feet from the inside door downstairs 5. One client will be allowed in at one time 6. The area in front of the registration desk will be marked off 7. Clients will come forward, place their information on the desk then step back behind the line 8. After being registered: a) The client will go to a volunteer b) Their food will be ready in a cart c) They will be escorted up the ramp d) Clients will take their food out of the cart through the side door These are emergency changes and could be altered at any time as the situation changes. Due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic the Timmins Food Bank is changing the operating procedures for food bank day, Wednesdays, until further notice ... At this point in time THE FOOD BANK IS OPEN 1. All of the existing eligibility rules apply 2. Clients will be given pre-bagged bags, no switching of items will be allowed... 3. Only those clients that need baby food will be allowed to shop for those items In order to help reduce the potential to spread the COVID-19 virus we ask that you practice social distancing while in line for the food bank by leaving a minimum of 10' or 3M space between you and the next person in line.

Hi there everyone ... The tax receipts for 2019 have been in the mail for almost a week now so you should have received yours or you will very shortly !! Thank you all so much for your support If anyone would like to start receiving their tax receipts via email just email the request to us with your name, current mailing address and your email address and we will start with the 2020 tax receipts.

Flying Fathers paid a visit today to the St. Martin De Porres food bank in Timmins before their 8pm game. Rick Young, manager and co-founder, worked side by side with Father Les Costello delivering food and furniture to families in Timmins.

A huge shout out to the Timmins Police Service & the OPP for their tremendous support through the Stuff-A-Cruiser campaign. Timmins residents added a significant amount of food and over $1,200 to the Timmins Food Bank during the campaign !!!! Thank you Timmins
