Beginning on Friday, January 8th, TFA is looking for some keen pre-teens between age 8-14 to join our Friday afternoon Trekkers class. Students spend 12:30-3:30 every Friday learning outdoor skills, teamwork, leadership, and spending time building resilience (and their immune systems!) in the great outdoors! We have opportunities for both some part-time work, as well as occasional/supply work. $17-20/hour starting wage dependant upon experience.and qualifications. The ideal candidate would possess:... - Qualifications in either B.Ed, ECE, Forest School Practitioners Course, or similar - An enthusiastic, passionate and warm demeanour when working with children - Patience, understanding, and a willingness to support a child's needs above all else - Experience exploring outside themselves and seeking out adventure! - A general knowledge of the environment, including plants and insects - A willingness to be a learner alongside the child, to ask deep and meaningful questions - A comfort with Risky/Challenge play and guiding children to be more independent - A comfort for working in all types of weather for long periods of time. Required qualifications: - a current Standard First Aid - CPR-C - Recent (within 6 months) Police Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Screening

Our Parent and Tot Program is a lovely way to meet other families, share in some outdoor play, and watch your toddlers sense of joy and wonder at the natural world around them. Typically I would write something about how amazing our first official day back was. But words wouldn’t do it justice..so I’ll let the photos of all the amazing things we got up to speak for themselves...

We had such an amazing start to our programs on Friday, beginning with Forest Roots! Parents and Tots explored the forest together, making mud cakes, swinging in hammocks, finding bugs, and more! We look forward to the start of all our programs, beginning today with our Multi-Age Mondays! See you in the forest!

We’ve said it all along, we’re hopeful now is the time to embrace our natural spaces and to watch children thrive!

Who is the lucky adventurer between age 8-16 who gets to fill one of the 3 spots left in our Friday Forest Trekkers program? From 12:30-3:30 let your kid loose in the forest to explore and learn skills associated with leadership and confidence. Students will have input in the first few weeks on what skills they would like to dig deeper with and the programming will flow from there.
