Black History refers to the stories, experiences, and accomplishments of people of colour. February is dedicated to Black History Month, honouring the triumphs and struggles of African Americans throughout the globe. Every February, people in Canada are invited to participate in Black History Month festivities and events that honour the legacy of Black Canadians and their communities. The 2021 theme for Black History Month is: The Future is Now. That theme is a chance to celebrate and acknowledge the transformative work that Black Canadians and their communities are doing now. Barbecue crispy tofu with veggie rice, and corn salsa...green lentil and feta pastitsio with Greek salad...apple pie sandwich cookies with a coconut and apple custard filling...vegetable masala pie with turmeric mashed potato topping....and blueberry crumble bars... No matter what age the child is, they all seem to have one thing in common an unending amount of energy. Ms. H planned an obstacle course activity for the Tykes, to have some fun as well as utilizing their gross motor skills. The activity was supposed to last fifteen minutes but ran into the entire afternoon because it was such a big hit amongst all the tykes, so much so that they requested to repeat it the next day. The tykes have also found great interest in Yoga, it truly is the best way to start the day! Happy Wednesday everyone! Today in toddler classroom we had fun talking about the winter. We talked about how the snow is melting now though, and so we made melting snowmen for craft. Happy Halloween !! We had a lot of fun with our food today... ‘mummy’s ‘ apple pie.... squirmy wormy cheesy eyeball cauldrons, with added flames and monster legs... obviously..... And then we explored the apple jelly swamp, with fruit filled jack o lanterns, slimy peach slugs, chocolate and blueberry Rocks... and of course , mystery swamp monster eyes!
