Over a billion end-of-life tires (ELTs) are generated annually, worldwide. In 2018, 487,470 tonnes of tires were recycled in Canada with 26,036 tonnes (5%) consumed as tire-derived fuel (TDF) and the remainder recycled into various products or shredded for other purposes. Will you be participating in the green bin pilot project? Perhaps you have been composting all along! Starting this week the City of Winnipeg has begun a two year Residential Food Waste Collection Pilot Project. People in five selected neighbourhoods were given green bins similar to the garbage and recycling carts. They’re encouraged to put discarded food in them.... During the pilot, they will collect food waste from homes in several areas of Winnipeg. The pilot will divert food waste from the landfill and turn it into compost at the Brady Road Resource Management Facility.
