Me, coming to work Monday afternoon:

There's light at the end of the tunnel! This deep freeze is about to let go! We would like to thank all of our customers this past week for their patience. I know wait times were longer than usual with our call volume. I hope we got to everyone and we didn't forget about anyone. We had a record amount of calls on Saturday. Just to give an example, our daily average for CAA calls is 1.3. Saturday alone we did 20 CAA calls, some private and a few other Auto club calls! We don't get that many calls on a busy summer day at the lake! Things have slowed today, time for some catch up and some family time on this Holiday Monday. Scary shit!! South of binscarth on 16 highway. Hope driver is ok ! Someone’s in shit I’m thinking.

Two more calls for service on Saturday; a roll over north of the mile long hill at 4:12pm and a vehicle that hit a hydro pole south of Minnedosa at midnight. A...t the roll over, crews used the jaws to extricate a trapped occupant who was taken by ambulance to hospital to further assess their injuries. We hope they have a speedy recovery. The occupant of the vehicle that hit a hydro pole was assessed on scene by EMS and RCMP. With sustained winds of 80+ kms / hour forecast for today and tomorrow please refrain from having bonfires or burning stubble / fields. Have a great remainder of the weekend!

Another busy morning for the MFD. A trailer with drilling equipment became detached from the truck hauling the equipment and ended up on its side after taking o...ut the guard rail. Fortunately no one was injured. The highway was closed for approx two hours to clear the wreckage. Thank you to RCMP, MIT, EMS, and Full Tilt Towing. The owner also did a great job in sending multiple trucks with manpower and equipment to help. Good collaborative effort. Stay safe this long weekend! See more
