While giving a talk at St.Peters high school a student asked me what would I consider to be one of most important things to watch out for when starting a business. I said be careful with who you go into business as they can be like a brick on your neck while you are trying to swim. Time has come to use technology to hold meetings like Zoom especially at these challenging times. I will go to meetings that absolutely require me to go and have already postponed three for next week. We all need to be diligent and wash our hands even when we think it is ok as they are clean. Over the last 38 years in the profession of advising people about insurance planning I have had struggles as to dealing with rejection and people not understanding my motives to help them for that day called when. Over the years I have literally delivered millions of dollars in claim cheques. When I see the results of my labour is in difficult times and when I know my why is when a client says at the time of a claim this cheque will come in handy. When others are asking for cheque’s remember I am delivering a cheque. Yes at times like that all the rejection is worth it and is silenced by knowing I made a difference in someone’s life. I was reminded of this only this week when one of our insurers notified us a claim cheque is on the way for critical illness that our client has.
