The 2020 Mark Gunter Photographer of the Year Awards is underway again. While they waived the entry fee knowing how COVID-19 has affected so many, there was still the option to make a donation to support cancer research in honour of Mark Gunter. I am sharing the three images I submitted along with the stories behind them. #markgunterphotoawards2020 #photo #photographer #screencaptureartist

The Thompson Bucks County Classic in beautiful Doylestown Pennsylvania is more than just a race. This 1.4 mile, 8 corner course is not for the faint of heart and will be won by someone with both the strength and technical skill to outmatch their competitors.

Last Thursday, Amanda Lau, Fiona Majendie and Sharla Mawhinney set off to demonstrate their courage to go further in order to raise awareness and funding for Coast Mental Health. Each one set a different cycling goal that involved climbing Seymour, as well as Grouse and Cypress for Amanda. It was awesome to see so many friends that came out to ride with them. My collection of their day's activities is here: https://tlbvelophotography.pixieset.com/couragetogofurther/. More inf...ormation about Coast Mental Health and opportunities for donations can be found here: https://www.coastmentalhealth.com/courage-to-go-further/. Personal thanks to Amanda for inviting me to capture this day. #couragetogofurther #cyclingphotos

Every once in a while I Google my own name. This popped up...an image I took from the RBC GranFondo in Whistler in 2019. This year was also supposed to be the UCI Gran Fondo World Series. It was going to be amazing. Fingers crossed we can still do this again next year.

Today was the Celebration of Life Ride for Jim Davies. While hugs were not allowed, I know it meant a lot to the family and close friends to have so many come out to honour and celebrate the amazing human being Jim was. I did my best to capture the crowd. My heart goes out to Gary and his sons, Neil, Shelley & Tyler and Barb.

It was my honour to support the Tour De Boudicca this past weekend as the in race photographer. 300+ riders from around the world participated in this all women’s stage race. The race was named after Boudicca, Queen of the Iceni, who led a revolt against Roman rule in ancient Britain around A.D. 60-61. She was a warrior queen who inspired her people and while she failed in her quest, she gave it everything she had. This stage race was created by the amazing Revolution Velo t...eam and was open to all female Zwifting warriors. My collection of photos is available via my Pixieset site: Stage 1: https://tlbvelophotography.pixieset.com/tourdeboudiccarace/ Stage 2: https://tlbvelophotography.pixieset.com/tourdeboudiccarace/ Stage 3: https://tlbvelophotography.pixieset.com/tourdeboudiccarace/

I recently met Carlton Brooke by chance and now we are working together on a special project to help him launch his company. We are doing a shoot on Friday, July 10th at 4pm. Please share locally. Details are in the attached. This is going to be fun!

In lieu of IRL racing, I will sporadically join a virtual race to capture my friends in action. While I might be able to hide in a ditch or behind a tree, I can't hide here!

I love the beauty of time trial. I had fun working with InstaFund La Prima Racing to showcase their new Factor TT bike. It looks good...as do Isabella, Sonia and Elizabeth!

You will often find me hiding behind some bushes or in a ditch somewhere outdoors...when I'm not a screen capture artist sitting in my den.

Project Echelon is once again stepping up to create another opportunity for community and competition with the Virtual Joe Martin Stage Race. I am honoured to support this from my den as the "in race photographer." I use that term loosely...I might be more of an artist than a photographer here. Whatever you want to call me, my avatar will be sitting at the start line while capturing the participants race through these fascinating and beautiful virtual worlds. Participants ar...e not charged an entry fee although they are asked to make a donation to Project Echelon to educate, equip, and empower veterans and their communities through physical activity and self discovery. This is going to be so amazing...and much better than last time as I have improved the effectiveness of my process :) #racingforveterans #ProjectEchelonVirtual

I had the pleasure of spending time with Char Kennedy and Angus Kilpatrick early this week, along with Haley and Grant Gill. They had asked if I would help with photos to promote their fundraising efforts for the Parkinson Society British Columbia. I really wanted to know more about the story behind these efforts. It all started when Char and her sister Madi came across a sketchbook that her father had been using during his own experience of living with Parkinson’s. A few of... his sketches jumped off the page and onto freshly designed cycling kit, T-shirts, sweatshirts and other items that they felt would benefit from shrimp, flowers, and a beaming sun. That’s how Shrimp Studio began with all of their proceeds going to the Parkinson Society British Columbia. Truly a gift born out of love and honouring their father who passed away just a couple of weeks ago. You can check out the fun designs of Shrimp Studio here: https://www.shrimpstudio.co/. You can check out the fun colours and details of the cycling kit through my collection: https://tlbvelophotography.pixieset.com/shrimpstudio/

This is an amazing story of recovery, adaptation and determination from Jordan Cheyne who raced in last weekend's virtual Tour of the Gila, hosted by Project Echelon. Jordan rides with Elevate-Webiplex Pro Cycling Team. I loved watching Jordan battle it out with Chris McGlinchey from Vitus Pro Cycling Team in the final race. I am honoured that a couple of my images from the virtual Tour of the Gila help tell the story.... The incredibly unique environment provided by Zwift Watopia makes for beautiful images, don't you think?
