Treaty Land Entitlement Committee of MB 08.01.2021

For your information and review. In Manitoba, the Brokenhead Ojibway Nation and the Buffalo Point First Nation (both Member Entitlement First Nations of the TLEC) both have Treaty Land Entitlement (TLE) Selections in existing Provincial Parks: Brokenhead has TLE Selections in the Whiteshell Provincial Park and Buffalo Point has a TLE Selection in the Birch Point Recreational Provincial Park.

The Treaty Land Entitlement Committee (TLEC) of Manitoba congratulates the Sapotaweyak Cree Nation (SCN) on celebrating the one year anniversary of its Petro Gas Bar & Convenience Store yesterday, July 28, 2020, in the Town of Swan River, MB. This gas bar is located on the SCN’s second Urban Reserve in Swan River. It’s first Urban Reserve in Swan River hosts its Club Sapp Gaming Centre (right across the street from the Petro Gas Bar).... Treaty Land Entitlement Committee of MB 11.12.2020

While following social distancing protocols in Treaty No. 1 Territory, the Treaty Land Entitlement Committee (TLEC) of Manitoba held its 2020 Annual General Meeting (AGM) outdoors on July 23 & 24, 2020, on the Swan Lake First Nation’s Reserve Land in Headingley, MB. During this AGM, the TLEC’s Voting Members elected a new Board of Directors for a two year term (2020-2022): - Chief Nelson Genaille, Sapotaweyak Cree Nation;... - Councillor Willie Moore, Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation; - Chief Elwood Zastre, Wuskwi Sipihk First Nation; - Councillor Modeste Tssessaze, Northlands Dene First Nation; and, - Chief John Clarke, Barren Lands First Nation. The TLEC also honoured its outgoing Elder, Mr. Jimmy Hunter Spence (Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation), for his years of dedicated service and steadfast guidance to the organization. The TLEC thanks the Swan Lake First Nation for allowing this AGM to be held on its Reserve Land in Headingley, MB.
