The Meeting Place

Some days I still find myself on a bathroom floor with tears on my face and struggling for a full breath. The difference now is that I don’t stay there for an hour. Only moments. It’s weariness and surrender instead of anger and blame. I know how to move through it genuinely and openly. And happens rarely now... like twice a year instead of twice a week. I’m not a robot and when I act like one, this is eventually where I end up. ... To be honest, I’m exhausted, excited, overwhelmed, and trying my best which sometimes just isn’t quite enough for what situations I have in front of me in this moment. I am a mom who knows how to clean up my tears, lean in for big hugs and support from my amazing kids, and turn things into connecting conversations about the importance of breathing and eye contact and touch when we’re overwhelmed. I believe that even in moments of too much I can still be learning, teaching and feeling without inflicting trauma or shame onto myself and others.
