Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays to our TMPL Family! We had a suuuper low key Christmas, and honestly the best Christmas we’ve ever had.. funny story - I had planned to make a big dinner on Christmas Day and then we got watching movies, playing, cuddling, ate lots of treats and I ended up falling asleep ..until 8pm! Ayden fell asleep on Derek’s chest for 3 hours and he didn’t want to wake us because honestly.. we haven’t relaxed like that together for at least 3 years. So ...my mom took Ay for the day yesterday and I made a romantic Christmas dinner for two For dinner we had (everything from @tmplnutrition .. - 4LB Pork Rib Roast - Green Bean Salad w Red Onion and avocado oil + balsamic vinegar dressing - Organic Romaine Caesar Salad - Brussel Sprouts And for dessert we made my Apple Crisp recipe and it’s so good! If you missed our insta stories yesterday - this dinner was made by our 4 year old, Ayden! Chicken Shish Kabobs marinated with our new favourite BBQ Sauce from @goodfoodforgood ..with sides of steamed broccoli + organic romaine / cucumber / organic grape tomato salad with balsamic + avocado oil! . . He washed + cut every veggie, you see here + put the chicken shish kabobs together! It was a proud moment for us to see our little man so happy, comfortable and in (one ...of his) elements . . Its NEVER too late to get your kids involved in the kitchen. Have them pick a meal or a healthy treat they want to try and make! We have gorgeous, LOCAL Rainbow Swiss Chard available + it is delicious. I know many of you dont know how to incorporate it into your nutrition, so here it is! Milena to the rescue . . The simplest, most convenient way we make Swiss Chard in our house is to steam it. You can saut it, make a salad with it (remove stems) and its also great in soup! However, the stock has the most nutrients so we make sure to eat them! .... . Try this: Bring two cups of water, tsp of turmeric, tsp of minced garlic to a boil. Add cleaned, chopped up Swiss Chard to your steamer and place over your boiling water, cover for approx. 6-7mins depending how crunchy (or soft) you want it! Sprinkle some sea salt, a little squeeze of lemon and VOILA! . . Swiss Chard is loaded with vitamins + nutrients. Just 2 cups has all your Recommended Daily Intake (RDI) of vitamins A, C + K.
