TMRRFC is deeply saddened by the news of the sudden passing of Ross Reeves. A legendary Town player in the 80s and one of the most talented athletes to wear the blue and gold jersey, he was always there for his teammates and left everything on the field. Ross came to rugby later in life, after a successful football career and bobsledding with the Canadian national team. He left Montreal in the 90s to hone his rugby in England with Bristol RFC. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends. RIP Ross, we will miss you.

Your TMR family is there for you! The world is currently shaken by a Covid-19 pandemic. As part of the measures to limit the spread of infection, the various levels of government recommend complete isolation for: people aged 70 and over, people returning from abroad, and people who have symptoms or have been diagnosed with Covid-19. However life goes on, we have to eat. If you are unable to go out to do your shopping, contact me, Dominique Baril-Tremblay at [email protected] ! A team of volunteers from your TMR family will help you out.

Dear friend of Scobie Hall, You may recognize the greeting. It was the one used when sending updates for TMR’s 60th anniversary. A few events have occurred since then: a new, invigorated executive has taken up where previous leaders have left off; our men’s squads have performed admirably at the top- echelon of rugby in Quebec; our women’s squads have come through good and tough times, but now appear solid in terms of numbers and coaching; there was a little kitchen fire that... you may have heard about... . Yet Scobie has survived and thrives every time there is a reason to gather. We are set for a new chapter and one that coincides with our 65th Anniversary. The goal of this note is to bring you up to date and to solicit your help in reaching a target we are calling Sixty-Fiveforour65th. The objective is to secure sixty-five social dues memberships before May 16, our season opener. Social members will be feted at our first home games (date TBA). 2020 Social dues are $100 and are tax-deductible via the following link: http://www.tmrrugby.com/donate-now . You will note that the donation form allows you to indicate an amount of your gift apportioned to elite development, coaching and field expenses. At the moment, the last two items are the most pressing. Below is a growing list of those who have joined this cause. Updates to the list will be made on the club’s various social media outlets. Should you wish to explore a more significant gift to the club, it would be our pleasure to share with you the available sponsorship levels. We would welcome any questions about this campaign or other TMR Rugby related issues. If neither of us has the answer, we will point you to the executive member who does. Thank you for taking the time to read this note. Be well! Pierre Drolet [email protected] David MacLeod [email protected] Sixty-Five for our 65th Members: Doug Laurie, Thomas Ingerman, Ian Macarthur, Jim Gaita, F. Phillips, E. Wyn Phillips, Pierre Drolet, Guy Quinn... Your name could be next!

That's only 5 months away! The format for this traditional celebration will be much like in the past, with sociables starting on Thursday and Friday night, games involving both men and women teams on Saturday, banquet Saturday night and survivors’ brunch on Sunday. One added ingredient that we will be working alongside is an international game between Canada vs French Barbarian team that is touring North America and hosted by the Rugby Quebec here in Montreal at Centre Claud...e Robillard, July 4th. This committee is just a small representative group. We have always taken pride in what we do both on and off the field as a club, so with the support and helping hands of the current membership, it promises to be a wingdinger! Any suggestions you may have as themes for these nights, please feel free to send them to us and/or partake in the regular committee planning meetings. These reunion years provide an opportunity and incentive to spruce the place up, so, over the winter and spring months we will implement a plan for what that will mean; minimally, some paint and lighting and possibly an equipment storage space. Under the leadership of our clubhouse manager, Alun Philips, along with many other able and helping hands, the house has been made quite functional, to say the least. There are plans to bump it up a notch though, including replacing memorabilia, which was lost in the fire! So if you think 2019 was exciting, wait until you experience 2020 with The Town!

It's with heavy hearts that we say thanks to Yoan Morlot who has stepped down as head coach of the TMRRFC men's rugby team. But the next chapter is about to begin, and we are looking for a new person to take over the leadership of the program. We are also looking for a coach for the TMRRFC women's rugby team. The deadline for applications is Jan. 10 at 5PM. For more details: http://www.tmrrugby.com//20/12/26/employment-opportunities
