I really hoped The Carleton could remain a tiny refuge within this crazy new world order. However, in light of artist cancellations, staff availability, and the... whole Halifax downtown scene slowly shutting down, we have decided it is best and safest for all to close for a few weeks. If the world cooperates, we’ll open again on Sunday April 5. Thanks and big love (from 6 feet away!) to our team who have been thoughtful and patient and super-sanitized during these tough times. To our many supporters: listen to those playlists, dream of Carleton frites, and we’ll see you in April!

It is with sadness and disappointment that we announce the cancellation of the 2020 Halifax St. Patrick's Day Parade. Given the circumstances surrounding public... gatherings and COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year's event, originally scheduled for Sunday, March 15, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. We feel it is in the best interest of public health and safety to do so. We know that this is disappointing news for many but hope everyone can understand the importance of taking extra precautions at this time. The flag raising scheduled for Friday, March 13 at Grand Parade at 12:00 p.m. is also cancelled. Although many of us won't be together this St. Patrick's Day week in Halifax, we hope you still find time and creative ways to celebrate and recognize St. Patrick's Day and the wonderful country of Ireland. And of course, we will all meet again in 2021. Yours in green, The Halifax St. Patrick's Day Parade Society
