In late June, the Alberta Government announced that a pilot group of 20 community pharmacies would be engaged to offer COVID-19 testing to Albertans. These test...s will only be offered to individuals without symptoms and with no known exposure to COVID-19. Tofield PharmaChoice has been included in the initial pilot group of pharmacies performing asymptomatic COVID-19 testing. Testing is being conducted by appointment only. Tofield PharmaChoice is now accepting appointments for COVID-19 screening and asymptomatic testing. Appointments can be booked by calling the pharmacy at 780-662-3520. All Albertans are encouraged to be tested, even if they don’t have symptoms. The pharmacy-based testing pilot will increase and improve Alberta’s ability to determine the prevalence of COVID-19 infection across the population. Assessment information will be used to understand the spread and presence of COVID-19 in the province. The COVID-19 test is a throat swab, performed by the pharmacist, which is then sent to Alberta Precision Labs for analysis. Results will take 4-6 days. Patients will be notified of the result through Alberta Health Services or by the pharmacist. Contact the testing pharmacy for information around booking an appointment with our trained pharmacists.
