With the arrival of the colder weather last week, suddenly it feels like winter. January and February are normally cold months, so this weather certainly is not a surprise, but our last year has been anything but normal. John 1: 5 Last night in the town I live (and I am sure in the surrounding areas as well) the power went out due to a severe windstorm and remained out for most of the night. As we awoke this morning, news began to trickle in that power was still out in certain places in town, namely the schools; I have heard of a snow day, but a wind day is a new one for me. Places of worship (regardless of religion) have long been targets for violence and hatred. This is yet another reminder of how uncertain the political dynamics ...of the US currently is. United Church of Christ is in full communion with The United Church of Canada and extremely close to our own theology and polity. This, and many other examples, are a constant reminder of why we need to work diligently to stand in opposition to hatred and policies that seek to segregate. Prayers ascending. See more
