This project was created as a reflection on my relatives bringing me pieces of cut fruit to me in my youth and me leaving offerings at their graves later in adulthood. In many ways, this project was a means for me to process di...stance and an exercise in developing personal spiritual practices. Like everyone, Ive been thinking about our pre-COVID and post-COVID world and how connecting with each other, time and sense of continuance has been made even more difficult. Growing/regrowing small fruits and vegetables in my home has turned into an incredibly grounding practice that forces me to have patience. SALUTE #6: Our client and neighbour @contactphoto is featuring powerful portraits of frontline workers in Italy by @alberto_giuliani . . . Posted @withregram @contactphoto On our website, we are presenting an ongoing series of portraits by photographer @alberto_giuliani. He has been documenting frontline workers at the San Salvatore Hospital in his hometown of Pesaro, Italy, an epicenter of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. Selected portraits are accompanied by extended quotes from the doctors and nurses pictured, speaking to the unfathomable circumstances in which they find themselves. SALUTE #5: Our friend and client @benfreed mounted a beautiful show just to have it swept away 5 hours later by the pandemic. To Ben and everyone out there: be well and be safe. . . . Posted @withregram @benfreed Hard to process the fact that today is the last day of the exhibition. Although it was a record breaking short run (the gallery was open for all of about five hours total), Im still so proud of this work and unbelieavbly thankful to everyone who offered their he...lp along the way. (Im going to try and do some kind of Instagram live thing next weekend as we wont be deinstalling for a little bit...tbd) I want to thank @pumice_raft for asking me to show the work in his space. As Ive mentioned, Ive been working on this project for over two years. Given how personal this work became, I wasnt sure if Id ever have the confidence to exhibit. Parker really gave me the kick I needed to shut the shit out and just do it. Im forever indebted to him, his vision for the show and his patience. Thank you. When Im shooting I forget about time (and the news) and Im truly happy. @changedirection has some strong mental health ideas to keep us sane through this unique time. During these challenging times, our thoughts have been with all the artists whose health and livelihood are being affected by the COVID-19 virus. One emerging contemporary artist in a visual arts field will be awarded a $1,000 @AkinProjects studio credit, along with a $1,000 honorarium to offset arts supplies and day-to-day costs. Who can apply? Artist Projects COVID-19 Studio Relief Grant is open to emerging contemporary artists working in a visual arts field. For the purposes of this residency an emerging artist is defined as an artist who is currently attending or a recent graduate (3 years) of a visual arts education program, with no commercial gallery representation, and a modest exhibition history over the past 3 years. You can still drop off your film orders in our outdoor drop box located beside our south side entrance within the parking lot or inside the building in our indoor drop box located just outside our main glass doors. ...
