Bernadette Smith, NDP Critic for Mental Health and Addictions. We have been pushing alongside families and community advocates for too long for the Pallister government to un-schedule Naloxone so that this life-saving drug is accessible and available to Manitobans who need it. This is one step to addressing the addictions crisis in our province but the government still needs to do more to address poverty, mental health, and the systemic issues that fuel the addictions crisis in Manitoba. We know that overdose deaths and opioid use have increased dramatically during the pandemic but the Pallister government has kept the exact numbers hidden from the public they need to be transparent about the addictions crisis and act now to protect families that are struggling.
