Despite the negative implications COVID-19 has had on nearly every business sector, it appears the pandemic hasn't had an (lasting) effect on the real estate industry as Canadians still believe in the strength of the housing market - despite growing concerns of the overall economy. On Monday, RBC released the latest edition of its Home Buying Sentiment Poll, which found that just 18% of Canadians consider the overall economy stable, while around 45% are confident in the housi...ng market's strength. The poll, which provides updates on current perceptions and sentiments related to the Canadian housing market, found that while the vast majority of respondents were concerned about the financial impacts of COVID-19 (78%), less than half of respondents polled said they were concerned about the impact the second wave of the pandemic will have on the real estate market (43%). Moreover, only 19% said they believe the pandemic has weakened competition within the real estate market and made it easier to buy a home. When asked, 80% of respondents said that home ownership is a good investment right now, with 52% believing that home prices will go up in the near future. Another 60% said that homes in their respective locales are overvalued, and 56% said that affordability will only worsen in the near future. This survey follows the release of the Bloomberg Nanos Canadian Confidence Index (BNCCI), which revealed Canadians are currently showing the highest level of real estate market optimism in the past nine months, further suggesting confidence in the Canadian housing market to grow even as the country grapples with the current resurgence of COVID-19 that's slowing the greater economy. You really don’t need to be a chef or to have the best kitchen to make some good food at home. This Puttanesca Pasta is so easy to make and it’s so delicious. One of my favourite dish!

One of the biggest questions that tend to arise in the months leading up to December, is whether or not people should decorate their homes for the holidays while trying to sell. Well, there are some tips on how you should go about staging your home during the holiday season: Try to Take Photos Beforehand... Take a photo of your home before decorating. This will allow potential buyers the chance to see your space both with and without decorations, and also will keep the listing photos from looking outdated if your home is still on the market in the months after the holidays. Keep it Simple & Generic Keep your decorations simple and generic. Keeping your decor generic will also help prospective buyers to envision themselves in your home, as not everyone celebrates the same holidays. Keeping things simple and generic will allow your home to be viewed as being festive and cozy, while also being approachable to potential buyers. Tuck Personal Items Away By tucking personal items away, as mentioned above, you allow potential buyers to see themselves in the space, without being distracted by personal items that belong to the current owner. Don’t Overcrowd the Space It is important to keep space in mind when decorating, so you aren’t blocking any key viewpoints or are restricting access to parts of your home that potential buyers may be trying to look at. Keep it Classic Outside When staging your home for the holiday season, many people only think of the indoor spaces. The outdoor curb appeal matters too! Keep outdoor lighting simple and classic by using white/yellow bulbs and string lights to keep your outdoor decor simple, while also looking sophisticated and classy. Consider utilizing any pillars or railings on the front step/porch by wrapping them with string lights and a garland, or putting down a holiday-themed doormat to help welcome prospective buyers to your home.
