This is why coolant flushes are important... This customer lost heat due to their heater core plugging. They had the thermostat and two coolant flushes done at another shop. When it came to us with the same symptoms, we knew we had to go further. This engine doesn’t have any way to drain all the coolant in the engine to ensure all deposits are removed. We recommended to remove the water pump to do our best to accomplish this. You can see the wear on the water pump impeller caused by these deposits. Because there is no low point drain, we can’t guarantee the deposits are all gone. We can say we did everything we could short of rebuilding the engine to remedy the situation! So far, so good...
