Original Letter address to Mayor Jason Baker, Brockville Ontario Canada June 10, 2020 Dear Mr. Mayor, I've delivered this letter as confidentially as I could without going to your home. This letter is important.... Contrary to popular opinion I have no desire in becoming mayor, mp, mpp or prime minister. My unorthodox methods may seem haphazard at times but you can rest assured I am on the side of the municipal government for the city of Brockville. Politically have been for 9 years. It's just good business. The provincial government seems to dictate our current well being. I suppose that given their ability to allocate funds in this direction, it's best we follow suit for a short while longer. At least until we (you) can provide a money making initiative. Which as you gathered is the reason I write this proposal. The purpose of this proposal is to alleviate stress on current long term care facilities, providing the perfect blend of family support and stepping away from COVD-19. The average PSW salary in Canada is $38,025 per year or $19.50 per hour. Entry level positions start at $29,705 per year while most experienced workers make up to $49,725 per year. The average wage for babysitters in Canada fluctuates significantly, depending on your location. Sitters in big cities are going to cost more than those in smaller cities or suburbs. In the Greater Toronto Area, CanadianNanny.ca puts the average babysitter wage at $12 to $16 an hour. The average difference $ 7.00 per hour approximately. 7 X 12 = $ 84 savings per day shift. A recent law, which took effect August 2015, limits unlicensed home daycare providers to look after a maximum of two children. Ideally most families start with two parents. I think you've got the jest of what I'm suggesting. I'm sure you've considered that students of babysitting age are generally in school when an elderly adult requires accompaniment. Now with home schooling a reality and many business run from home (which I personally and automatically) believe should be provided grant to re-purpose their home office to enable concentration. In conclusion, lets say. Substantial savings to the province can be made by relabelling home care provider from personal support worker to in home care student. Stress, and there is quite a bit I can testify to first hand , in retirement and nursing homes will be dramatically reduced. Off set nurses can go back to the job they were trained for, assisting doctors. A win, win, win . This will be the second copy of this letter. I hope to hear from you before June 16 to enable further co-operation and possible collaboration in this regard. Truly, Mark Arthur Smith If this proposition seems of interest please call 613-213-3822
