We would like to officially welcome two new additions to the Toronto Equine team! Kaleb Gardiner and Dianna Smith are both veterinary technicians who bring with them a wide range of experience and expertise. We are very excited to have them on board! Want to know more about the path that Dianna and Kaleb took to become veterinary technicians? Following is a bit more about their backgrounds. After completing his veterinary technician placement with us at the Toronto Eq...uine Hospital, Kaleb became the newest member of our team. Kaleb is a highly qualified recruit who comes to us with a plethora of horse experience including working for a thoroughbred horse trainer and being a groom. Kaleb`s personal attributes are also an asset to the team along with his professional experiences; that is to say that Kaleb`s distinctive calm demeanour is incredibly helpful with the horses, clients and fellow employees. Kaleb`s first foray into animal medicine education was at Sheridan College where he completed a program in animal care in 2012. From there, Kaleb went on to complete his Veterinary Technician diploma at Georgian College. His veterinary medical interests include dentistry and anesthesia as well as the general surgery procedures including prep and recovery. Kaleb`s personal interests include hiking, fishing and spending time with his two cats Molly and Violet. Dianna has worked in the veterinary field since 2009, starting out as a co-op student at a small animal practice. She then went on to pursue a career as an RVT graduating from the Veterinary Technician Program at Seneca College in 2013. Her experience with horses started at a young age competing in hunter/jumper shows and working at a Thoroughbred/Quarter farm in their breeding division. Dianna’s veterinary interests include anaesthesia, nuclear scintigraphy and patient care. She spends her free time at the barn riding her part-boarded OTTB, playing with her adopted dog Echo and relaxing at the cottage

Come out to Woodbine Racetrack on Sunday June 14 to see some of the top fillies compete in the 60th running of the Woodbine Oaks! Also featured on tomorrows racing card will be the Plate Trial Stakes and the Alywow Stakes, which will make for an exciting day of racing with some of the leading competitors.
