Although WPC feels that this transition is best for the 2021 season, WPC does plan to return to the regular NCL format next fall for the 2021-2022 season. NEW MUSIC VIDEO It has been a while since we posted but interesting news out of the pool has surfaced (pun intended!). Golden Jets and UofT women's coach and 4-time Olympian David Hart is also a music composer and member of the "Occasional Angels" band.... David's latest song "Oh, Delilah" has just dropped and there is another connection to the Golden Jets. The star of the song video is the Jets/UofT's international Ana Miroslavic! Have a look and listen (and remember to "Like") at: https://www.facebook.com/theoccasionalangels

VIDEO SUGGESTIONS In this crazy time, there are, of course, no competitions or club activites to report. No games. No practices. Certainly not what we all envisioned back in September. Due to insurance issues with WPC, we cannot send you suggestions of workouts OR web sites to seek out to find workouts to do at home.... So, another thing that perhaps can help maintain the connection to water polo is game video. To that extent, club Head Coach and Founder George Gross, Jr. will be starting up a weekly or bi-weekly video review session of international, collegiate and Golden Jets club games. Even if members are not involved in the actual video breakdown session, everyone can enjoy the game video on their own. A few days before each video breakdown session, George will post a link to the game being reviewed. You can watch it beforehand to get familiar with the action and do your own analysis. Our first video is the Hungary-Spain preliminary round game from this year's European Championships (the teams met again later in the gold medal game). The game ended in a 11-11 tie. When you see the player introductions, you will see what we all wish we could have here! You can find the video at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itsIl641lMU ENJOY!

JETS WOMEN 3-1 IN MONTREAL The Toronto Golden Jets women traveled to Montreal for the first Major League Water Polo (MLWP) crossover weekend and came away with three wins in four tries. After the six hour drive, the team hopped into the pool to face Capital Wave (Ottawa) and quickly jumped out in front 5-1. The team matched that goal total in the second quarter to lead 10-3 at the half. The Jets pushed their advantage to 14-4 heading into the final frame before ending up wi...th a 16-7 win. National Team member, Shae Fournier, led the way with six goals. Caitlyn Tiedje notched a hat trick while rookies Kaitlyn Palmer and Lauren Dundee added a pair each. Kassie Fraser, Sara Sutherland and Sarah Wentling scored once. The teams met in a morning rematch the next day and the Jets again dominated the first quarter getting out in front 5-0. Each team scored a goal in the second period and the Jets gradually upped the advantage before eventually winning 10-4. Fournier, Dundee and Palmer each scored twice while Sutherland, Tiedje, Wentling and rookie Stephanie Nelson added singles. Goalie Rachael Jaffe was steady in the net. Later in the day, the Jets faced a strong challenge against DDO (Montreal) which boasted three National Team players in the lineup. However, the Jets seemed undaunted by the task and went goal-for-goal with DDO in a 3-3 opening quarter. The Jets actually then led 6-5 at the half. DDO turned it around to lead 8-7 heading into the final period. But the Jets stuck to it and tied things up two and a half minutes into the the quarter. DDO then scored twice to go up 10-8 but the Jets again responded to close the gap to 10-9 with a minute and a half to go. That was as close as it would get for the Jets as the DDO defence did not allow the Jets attack to penetrate on its final two attempts and held on for the close 10-9 win. Fournier led the Jets attack with four goals. Dundee tallied a hat trick and Fraser popped in a pair. Jaffe was outstanding in the net making 13 saves, several of the spectacular variety as she continually frustrated the DDO National Team shooters. The final game of the weekend pitted the Jets against St. Lambert. A scrappy first quarter saw the Jets get out into a 3-1 lead. St. Lambert closed to 5-4 at the half but the Jets used a strong 4-1 third quarter to move in front 9-5 on the way to a 12-8 victory. Fournier and Dundee again led the way with five goals apiece with Fraser and Palmer netting singles.

JETS GOLD MEN WIN TWO of THREE The Toronto Golden Jets men's GOLD team went two for three in MLWP weekend crossover action in Montreal. After a long drive from Toronto, the undermanned Gold team (only two subs) could not sustain energy and fell 11-5 to Ottawa 1. The game was tied 2-2 after the first quarter but a couple of 2 goal victories in the next two quarters left the Jets trailing 7-3.... Bruno Marunica scored a pair of goals and Tony Giannatsis, Mike Chapman and Harrison Young added singles. After playing the last game the night before, the Jets had to play the first game at 8:00am the next day against the CAMO (Montreal) club. The Jets came out blazing and surprised the host club and led 3-0 after the opening quarter. CAMO rallied in the second to tie things up 4-4. Neither team could manage a goal in the third period. CAMO gained its first lead lead on the first attack of the final frame. The lead held until the last two minutes when the Jets rebounded with two goals to steal a 6-5 win. Tuna Tali and Giannatsis each scored twice while Patrick Conn and Marunica added singles. Goalie Emirhan Ozdemir was extremely strong in the net for the Jets and continuously turned aside CAMO attacks with big saves. A few hours later the Jets were back in the pool to face Ottawa 2. After a sluggish opening period where the Jets managed a 2-0 lead, the team exploded for five unanswered goals in the second quarter to take a 7-0 halftime lead. The advantage continued to grow until the Jets came away with a 14-2 victory. Giannatsis led the attack with four goals. Diego Gonzalez netted a hat trick. Conn popped in a pair and Paul Spooner and Tali added singles. The Jets GOLD team is now 4-1.
