Mississauga Transit has announced the opening date for the new Kipling Bus Terminal. On January 4, 2021, Miway buses will service the new Kipling Terminal instead of Islington Station. Route 26 will still go by Islington Station to/from Kipling Station but will remain on the street. Mississauga Transit has serviced Islington Station for over 45 years. Looking back, here is articulated bus # 5010, a GMDD TA-60102N, on route 36 at Islington Station in September 1988.

In 2010 (on December 11), the TTS chartered Durham Region Transit Orion V # 8133 for a Christmas Lights Tour. One of the more brightly lit houses was on Mary Street in Oshawa so the charter bus was posed for photos at that location.

Sixteen years ago today, on December 11, 2004, the Toronto Transportation Society chartered a brand new Orion VII bus for a Christmas Lights tour of Toronto. The highlight was this well lit house on Benjamin Boake Trail, a short distance from York University.

Nine years ago, on October 22, 2011, the TTS travelled to London to charter 2 MCI Classic buses for a fall colours tour. The Classics would be retired in London shortly after. During the charter, we got a tour of the new Wonderland garage, as well as the old garage on Highbury.

Sixteen years ago, on October 23, 2004, the TTS chartered Orion V CNG # 9370 for a fall colours fan trip. We received special permission from the TTC to take it to Scarborough where the CNG buses rarely, if ever, operated. We took it to the furthest east point of the TTC system, the Starspray Loop.

Fifteen years ago today, on October 22, 2005, the TTS had a fall colours charter aboard two buses. Buses 2613 and 6103 were chartered for three hours each and posed at numerous locations. We actually rode one more bus on this day (an Orion VII that was taken off of Jane Street) when TTC misunderstood our request of two separate three hour charters and thought they were both at the same time. The Orion VII took us to the Arrow Road garage where we transferred to Flyer D901 # 6103.

As mentioned in the first ever TTS Zoom meeting last night, the TTS will not be doing any fan trips for the immediate future, perhaps well into 2021. Over the years, we have done some fall colours fan trips so for the next few days, we will look back at some. In 2001, the TTS chartered bus # 2603 from the TTC. This bus was ex-Montreal 25-024 and was one of 20 that the TTC put into service in 1998/99. We received permission to trace the old 93-Woodbridge route which had not operated since the late 1970s. The attached photos show bus 2603 at High Park, Humber Loop and in Woodbridge.

Part II of the history of GO Transit bus operations in "Transfer Points" deals with the period from 1985-2020. Over these years, the equipment operated by GO changed significantly as GO was very innovative in their attempts to improve their service. In 1991, GO Transit acquired 52 New Flyer D40 suburban buses (1900-1951). In the attached photo, bus # 1915 is seen when new at the Richmond Heights Terminal in Richmond Hill, ON on November 9, 1991. These buses featured oversized destination signs which greatly enhanced their readability.
