Between March 25 and April 2, a fundraising program called "Working Together to Share" raised $30,000 from and delivered protective masks to Markham Stouffville Hospital and to Scarborough Health Network. Since then, deliveries have been made to Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital and Participation House in Markham. The program was started by the GTA’s top Chinese chess clubs, the Toronto Xiangqi Association (TXA) and the Markham Xiangqi Association (MXA). Every step of the way ...TXA/MXA members have worked with city councillors: Alan Ho in Markham, Cynthia Lai in Scarborough North, and Castro Liu in Richmond Hill. Elena Pacheco, the vice president of Planning and Transformation at Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH), helped verify the certifications of the medical supplies. The effort is ongoing.
