Making Oobleck is a great tactile activity for our kids that love sticky and gooey sensations. When we squeeze and move it around in our hands it feels like a solid however when we stop, it turns back to liquid and slowly drips between our fingers. For this client, playing with oobleck was very calming and regulating. Our in person Social Stars group is full. We do have a couple of spots left in the online version. This group will be unique in that the group will be cohesive. The participants who are joining online will interact with the in person group. UPDATE: We have one spot left for this group starting next week for the in person session. The online group has a couple of openings. This group is unique in that the two groups will be interacting together. If your child needs to stay home at any time they can easily switch to the online access and continue on. What a beautiful view from our office tonight!

After much deliberation and planning we are deciding to run a 6 week Social Stars group for 10-14 year olds. There are both in person and online options available. Both will be run by an experienced occupational therapist. This group is for kids who are a bit older to help work on social thinking concepts such as being part of a group, noticing emotions and thoughts in others, flexible thinking and how to be a friend. This group is designed for kids who might struggle in gro...up situations or may need more support in reading social cues. We will also work on learning how to manage emotions and our reactions and learn about how this connects to our social engagement with others. Games, activities, and group projects will be a key part of the group allowing members to practice these ideas with support and coaching as needed. *Note: This particular group is not appropriate for kids who require individual support to be part of a group Social distancing and Covid-19 protocols will be put into place for the in-person group. Masks will be mandatory.
