Advisory: Canine Parvo Virus Recently we have seen a lot of cases of the Canine Parvo Virus. The Canine Parvo Virus is highly contagious, the virus commonly attacks cells in the lining of the gastrointestinal tract. Parvo affects dogs of all ages, but most cases occur in puppies 6 to 20 weeks of age. Following an incubation period that averages four to five days, the acute illness begins with depression, vomiting, and diarrhea. Puppies with severe abdominal pain exhibit a t...ucked-up abdomen. Diarrhea is profuse and contains mucus and/or blood. Dehydration develops rapidly. A simple test can determine if a dog has Parvo. Immediate treatment is critical if you notice any of these signs! Make sure your furry friend, whatever the age, is vaccinated to defend against this deadly threat and if they are unvaccinated and showing symptoms, seek immediate medical attention.
