Another 5 Star Review!!! Twenty years ago we had Touchwood Flooring install an Ash floor in our home while it was being constructed rather than going with the builder's trades for this. The quality of the install and their work stood the test of time. When our dishwasher drain hose burst and ruined a portion of our floor late last year we were quite upset. We waited 6-7 months hoping the floor would recover, but unfortunately, it didn't. With Ash being much more difficult to ...source, and our previous experience with the durability of a factory finish, we decided to have the floor replaced and there was no doubt in our minds who we wanted to do this work. The installers worked incredibly hard to remove and replace our hardwood floors in 3 days. Their attention to detail, sanding and leveling where needed to prepare for install was impressive and our new floor is rock solid, level and looks beautiful once again! We are once again very happy with their work and are hoping this floor lasts even longer this time! I certainly hope so, as the next time around I am not sure who we will go to for this as Leona and Greg will likely be long retired by then! Kevin G See more

We just completed a Sand and Refinish job in an Old Edmonton neighborhood that had a major pet stain. Touchwood can still source that 70-year-old hardwood flooring to match with the existing floor. Our Client had not wanted to replace damaged boards to save some money, so opted to stain the floor instead. The results were great. 9. Bold vs Simple Two contradicting trends are whether to keep the house restrained, subdued and minimalist or to create interest by bringing attention to the floor. Some designers will keep the floor subtle so that other elements that sit on the floor are featured such as the furniture, cabinetry, fabric, etc. Others have totally embraced all of the herringbone, chevron, and patterns that are now available in hardwood. Designers are not having it installed just in the dining... room; they are running it throughout the whole main floor of the house. These floors are WOW! And a lot of the furnishings that sit on top tend to be either plainer or over the top with interest as well. We are also playing with the herringbone boards to create other patterns with these exact length boards. Not just the parquetry that is making a comeback but so is random width boards mixed into the floor and diagonal installs. What is your style? Simple or Bold? See more

Hardwood Trends 8. Brushed Smooth floors will always remain a classic. We recommend smooth floors for low traffic households. Smooth is the perfect way to ground unique or vibrant decor. It helps showcase the furniture, cabinetry, fabrics, and wallpaper that sit above, by not challenging the attention down below. Right now, more clients are requesting Texture. House styles that tend to be more simple, with clean lines and solid colors are complimented beautifully with textured floors. The hottest trend right now is Wirebrushed, both lightly brushed or heavily brushed really accent the grain of the wood. We are even seeing products like Mirages Engraved where even the Maple is brushed. We still get some requests for Handcraped or Distressed floors although not as much. These floors are meant to be lived on.

Hardwood Trends 2020 6. Going Gold Remember colour trend #1, the blue floors, well Hakwood Hardwoods latest colours have golds and yellows in them. Gold hues are soft and comforting. Come by and check out Hakwoods Ash Colours - Dawn, Shimmer and Flare. They are amazing! As a precious metal, gold is used to set off gemstones of every hue. Gold as a floor will compliment all tones that sit on it. Golden Oaks & Creamy yellows all will go great with the Mid Century Modern tre...nds and the 70s Culture Resurgence we are starting to see in fashion and movies that will soon be in home decor. Think Green cabinets or accents, harvest golds etc. Gold floors will be amazing with these! We hate to say, but if this is what is forecasted as color trends from Europe, we think the old ambered Natural Red Oak may even make a comeback. ..(But you have about 5+ years to wrap your head around that one.)
