Staycations. Are. Awesome. I had so much fun exploring Regina with the family for two days like a tourist. We safely enjoyed so many fun outdoor activities, indulged in great food, and spent some time relaxing in the hotel. It really felt like a mini getaway. There is really no better way to start off a day than with a sourdough donut from @theeverydaykitchen . I usually go for the Brown Butter donut but this time I tried the cinnamon bun donut. It was amazing.... Our next stop was skating through the trees at Echo Valley Provincial Park in @saskparks and skating those trails are truly a magical experience. I love that they have free firewood on site to make a fire to warm up in one of the many fire pits. Taking a picture under the @saskparks sign next to the skating trail is a must. My youngest was happy to join me for a photo op. The mouth watering charcuterie for lunch from @yqr_styleandgraze had a variety of delicious meats, cheeses, spreads and even a little dessert! I love that a selection of the meats included local bier sticks from @butcherboypark and garlic sausage and pepperoni sticks from the Ukrainian co-op. It was so nice to keep the kids entertained on the way home with a PAK (Park Activity Kit) that I picked up from the visitor centre at Echo Valley Provincial Park. All the mouthwatering food from @thehallyqr was a great way to end the day. #YQR I am sad the staycation is coming to an end but I am excited to continue to explore this beautiful city. Thanks for following the last two days! If you enjoyed the stories and the post then make sure to come check us out @borntobeadventurous . #SeeYQR

Hi! I'm Annika from @borntobeadventurous I am taking over the Tourism Regina social media accounts with my family over the next two days. I live here in Regina and as a family we love exploring the outdoors in and around the city. I am so excited to share our 2-day outdoor family staycation!... To start our first day, I rented snowshoes at @fresh_air_experience and then took the family to Les Sherman Park. It was the girl's first time snowshoeing and we were lucky that it had just snowed! On every adventure, I like to have a little snack for the girls to help keep them going. Staycations call for something special and so we indulged by sharing donuts from @hobodonutsyqr . My favourite was the Churro and the girls loved the Cookies N' Cream. After snowshoeing a little longer, our family had lunch from @freshandsweet . Everything from the fresh squeezed strawberry orange juice to the white chocolate banana bread french toast was amazing. Next activity was a highlight for the kids (and my husband and I). I took them all skating at Iceville located at @evrazplacelive where the Roughriders play! If you go, do a family skate off on the big screen! It was a big day and before hitting the waterslide and hot tub at @daysinncanada in Regina, I decided it was time to introduce our kids to Nepalese food. Before having kids, my husband and I lived in Nepal for 3 months. Ginger and Garlic Nepalese Cuisine did not disappoint and I see why they have such positive reviews. That is it for today! Make sure to catch all our stories for the day. Have a good night and I cannot wait to share more of our staycation tomorrow!
