We understand some people have concerns and questions about how the Town is doing snow removal after this week’s extraordinary snowfall. An unusual amount of snow fell in a short period of time, putting a stress on the Town’s resources. Our first priority was the removal of snow to allow emergency vehicles to get out when responding to calls. With the excessive accumulation of snow we received on Tuesday, the decision was taken to plow down the middle of the streets to make ...sure emergency vehicles could at least get where they needed to go. This may have meant some residents found their cars or driveways blocked by windrows created by the graders. Crews have been going back to remove these windrows since the initial clearing of the streets. The Town has hired additional trucks and asked crews to work overtime as well - including working on Christmas Eve day. All that snow has to be trucked away and that takes time and resources. All actions were taken in accordance with the Town’s snow removal policy to which we posted a link on Monday, prior to the snowstorm. We also asked residents to move their vehicles off the roads when possible to allow the plows to get through as quickly as possible. Please be patient with the Town as we deal with a once-in-a-ten-year snowfall. We are encouraged by the number of stories we’ve heard about neighbours helping neighbours this is true Crossfield spirit.
Snow removal has begun on Harrison, starting with the 500 block. Crews will do as much as they can tonight and resume tomorrow morning.
