With 2020 in the rear-view mirror The Wembley Fire Department would like to remind you to focus on the road ahead and let’s make as many positive changes as pos...sible moving forward. We have a great community and even greater people in it! We need to spread joy, happiness, and positivity as we all know some could really use it. We like many organizations faced challenges and obstacles throughout the year but thanks to all of YOU! We got though it! As our second busiest year on record with 232 incidents lets provide some insight to what the Wembley Fire Department has been up to. In 2020 our members volunteered 6647.5 hours. this is comprised of 4104.5 hours dedicated to training, Fire Prevention, Station Duties, equipment testing and servicing, and Public Relations. 2543 hours on Emergency Call Outs. If we wanted to put a dollar figure on that, some other firefighters with the same amount of training in the region make 37.00$ per hour, indicating our volunteers saved the Taxpayers of Wembley $ 245,957.50 Annually just in wages by having 22 of our 24 staff 100% Volunteer In addition to our overwhelming local support from our residents, town staff, and elected officials we want to say thank you to our Mutual Aid Departments County of Grande Prairie Dunes and Clairmont Stations, Beaverlodge Fire Department, Hythe Fire Department, La Glace Fire, Sexsmith Fire, Teepee Creek, Bezanson, and the MD of Greenview. A special thanks GP 911 Dispatch, Alberta Forestry, RCMP, and Alberta Health Services for everything you do for us during the year. Best of Wishes from the crew at Wembley Fire.
