The holidays can be a time of reflection and remembrance for many people. Our Memorial Lights ceremony provides an opportunity for community members who have experienced loss to commemorate the passing of loved ones. Each light on our tree represents those who have departed -- partners, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, grandparents, neighbors, friends, special mentors, and family pets. All names of those being remembered will be read aloud. Losing a loved one is never eas...y, and the holiday season can be especially difficult. We hope that this event can help in some small way. We will stream the ceremony live on Tuesday, December 15th, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. on the Town House Facebook page. In order to have the name of your loved one commemorated, please bring in a minimum $5.00 donation (cash, cheque, or debit) to Town House by Friday, December 11th or you can send an e-transfer to [email protected] All donations go towards supporting the numerous, diverse, and necessary programs and services at Town House. Please join us for this meaningful event.

Just a friendly reminder, our 12th Annual Memorial Lights Ceremony is tonight. Emily O'Leary will start the ceremony off with some beautiful Christmas Carol's, followed by a blessing from Reverend Dorothy from St. Mary's Church, the reading of names of those being remembered, the lighting of our Memorial Tree followed by Silent Night by Emily. Losing a loved one is never easy, and the holiday season can be especially difficult. We hope that this event can help in some small ...way. This year we will be dedicating our Memorial Lights Ceremony to our Executive Director, Ed Beaton, who has recently passed away. Memorial Lights, along with Town House, meant a lot to Ed and Ed meant a lot to us. He was a very special part of Town House and we miss him dearly! The ceremony will be streamed "LIVE" tonight at 6pm right here on our Facebook page. Thank you for those who have supported and continue to support Town House. We appreciate you more than you know!

It is with a very heavy heart that we share with you this news. Our Executive Director, Ed Beaton, has passed away. Ed had such a big heart. A personality you couldn't help, but love. He was kind, so caring, the most charming, loveable man with the best sense of humour! He was so passionate about Town House and was always coming up with new ideas and ways to make it a better place, not only for his staff but the whole community. Ed was filled with so much compassion towards... every person he met and was committed to helping the community in anyway he possibly could. He saw the good in everyone and you just couldn't help but love him! This is the perfect statement because Ed went above and beyond... "it was important to Ed that he gave back to those who needed it most, and made each person that he met feel important and appreciated." Ed, we were so lucky to know you. We will miss your laughter, your stories and your stand up comedy from your office, but most of all we will miss your presence https://www.tributearchive.com//Forest-Haven-Memorial-Gard

How great is this!? From September to December we are able to provide our Meals on Wheels clients with FREE MEALS on Mondays, Wednesdays & Thursdays through the support of the Nova Scotia Government, EfficiencyOne, and Nova Scotia Power through redirected funds from the HomeWarming Program and FREE MEALS on Tuesdays through the support of the United Way Cape Breton. We have also partnered with Seaview Manor, who will be providing meals to our clients during this time and have been nothing short of amazing to us! Appreciation Post!! We would like to send a huge shout out to John White & his crew (Future Ready Youth Society) & Pepper! Before this pandemic started, we only heard really great things about John. When we finally got to meet him, he definitely lived up to those expectations! John offered to help with our Meals on Wheels program back in March and since then John & his crew have dedicated their time every week to ensure our clients were staying fed during COVID-19. To date, ...they have delivered about 1000 meals to our clients. Meals on Wheels is an essential service especially since this pandemic started. We can see John has made some friends in our clients along the way and that makes us so happy because Meals on Wheels is more than just delivering a meal, it is an opportunity to stay connected with our seniors in the community to make sure they are doing okay. Some of our seniors are on their own and the only interaction they have that day is with our volunteer, even if it is just from a distance. Whether it is a simple Hello or a conversation 6 feet apart, it makes their day! We appreciate you and cannot thank you enough for everything you are doing for Town House and the community! See more

We cannot thank you all enough for helping to ensure our seniors in Glace Bay and surrounding areas were able to continue receiving nutritious meals during these trying times! Thank You & Congrats Claire!
