The Town of Comox recognizes the value in commemorating local events and/or efforts of not-for-profit organizations and milestones for local business organizations, individuals, and community groups within the Town. These are often recognized by proclamations or flag raisings that focus the attention of the community. In late 2020 Council adopted two new policies, a Proclamation Policy and a Flag Raising & Flag Protocol Policy, to support and guide requests of this nature. Current public health orders and restrictions are extended until February 5, to bring down COVID-19 case counts in BC. We continue to see high transmission rate...s through social gatherings. PHO restrictions mean all British Columbians must only socialize with people who live in their households (or core bubble, if you live alone). Everyone must continue to avoid any non-essential travel. Now is the time to stay home, and do your part to keep our hospitals, schools, and workplaces safe. We will get through this by pulling together. See details: www.gov.bc.ca/COVID19restrictions
Please note below an update from the Comox Community Centre regarding the new Provincial Health Orders and the impacts to activities permitted at the Centre. For additional information about the orders: https://www2.gov.bc.ca//covid-19-provincial-s/restrictions
New orders are in place to help everyone in BC significantly reduce their social interactions and to help stop COVID-19 from spreading in our province. The foll...owing orders and direction are in effect: Mandatory mask mandate for workers and customers in indoor public and retail spaces and in workplace common areas No events or social gatherings with anyone outside your household or core bubble (if you live alone) COVID-19 travel advisory in BC: essential travel only Spin classes, hot yoga, and high intensity interval training are suspended No spectators and no travel outside your community for sports games Learn more: https://gov.bc.ca/covid19restrictions

The Comox Community Centre has suspended all high intensity and spin fitness classes identified by Dr. Henry and called all of the participants. Low intensity a...nd moderate fitness classes continue. The Fitness Studio is open for pre-register timeslots as usual. Customers must wear masks while in common areas of the Community Centre. We’re awaiting clarification on wearing masks while exercising and will share that information as soon as we receive it. We anticipate the Province will make additional changes to all fitness classes and we’re already working on the implementation for when the new guidelines arrive. We thank all our dedicated and loyal customers for their tremendous support. Stay safe Comox!
Winter registration starts today for programs and activities at the Comox Community Centre. Learn more and register below.
