We are extremely lucky to have an incredible group of businesses run by dedicated people here in Gananoque. As we enter into a second lockdown, let's show them some love and support. Check out our Love, Community, and Shop Local business directory. We compiled this list last March and continued to update in order help spread the word of businesses who were open for delivery, online and takeout options. We will work to keep this updated for our businesses and the community. If... you are a business listed here and would like your information updated please email [email protected]. Thank you to all of our businesses who work tirelessly to serve our community. On December 21, 2020 the Premier of Ontario announced that the province will once again be entering a provincial shutdown as of 12:01 on Saturday December 26, 2020. Cases of COVID-19 have been increasing at a concerning rate across the province and this measure is intended to help flatten the curve once again. This document indicates which businesses and services may continue to be open with restrictions and which ones must close. https://files.ontario.ca/moh-provincewide-shu...tdown-en-2020- For your reference, Ontario Regulation 779/20 Reopening Ontario Act 2020, Amending O. Dr. Stewart, our Medical Officer of Health for Leeds Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit has shared the following messaging regarding Halloween. Halloween 2020 o Virtual gatherings or events are safest... o Outdoor gatherings or events are safer than indoors. o We are hearing about some fun and creative alternatives to trick or treating, like scavenger hunts and walks to look at neighbourhood decorations or having a themed dinner with household contacts, and we will be sharing some of these fun ideas on our social media accounts If you choose to participate in trick or treating: o Only go out with members of your direct household o Wear a mask/face covering that fits properly a costume mask is not a substitute for a face covering. So get creative and think about how to incorporate your face covering into your, or your child’s costume o Stay 2 metres apart and don’t congregate or linger at doorsteps o Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer o Consider creative ways to hand out treats so that children aren’t reaching into a bucket or bowl to grab treats No matter how you choose to celebrate Halloween, the key is to be COVID-SMART Be Safe!
Remembrance Day is fast approaching, but the annual ceremonies are being modified to ensure the safety of veterans and their families as the country battles a rising wave of COVID-19. The Royal Canadian Legion’s Dominion Command has issued guidelines for ceremonies during the pandemic and the main message is that this year’s Remembrance Day will not be a public event. In Gananoque the usual Remembrance Day activities are being reduced considerably. The entire ceremony will be... live-streamed on the Town's and Legions Facebook pages so anyone can watch from the safety of their home. Please check back for more details as the day approaches. Be safe!
