A guided meditation for children or teens that need help putting their stress aside. This script is by Ellen Curran read by Tracy Morgan
The gardening season countdown begins....
We know it’s cold this week , but we also know the importance of getting outside. Here is a COOL activity that requires the kids to bundle up and head out. Hav...e your kids ever blown bubbles in winter ? When it’s this cold, try making frozen bubbles by blowing regular or homemade bubble solution outside. They’ll be amazed as the bubbles freeze before their eyes. With how cold it is, we bet it won’t take long to freeze. Perhaps try at different times of the day to see when the bubbles freeze quicker. If you don’t have store bought bubbles, here is how you can make a solution with ingredients from around the : 4 parts water 1 part dish soap a dash of light corn syrup Bubble wand or straw Remember to dress for the weather. When it is this cold, frostbite can set in quickly. Here is a handy guide to help you http://befitforlife.ca/resources/howtodress If it is just too cold to head out, let the kids try their own science experiments. What happens when they add vinegar and baking soda together? What if it is milk and baking soda? Is there a difference? Remind them to always be curious and ask what if? Here are some ingredients to start with, but don’t stop at just these. Milk Vinegar Baking soda Food coloring Balloons Dish soap And for more fun activities visit calgary.ca/free

The pool opening at the BSRC will be postponed to complete repairs associated with the expansion joint that joins the shallow end of the pool to the deep end with a water tight seal. With additional work to complete repairs, our projection for opening is approximately mid-December. Our staff have been very eager to re-open the pool for the community. We share your disappointment and appreciate your understanding. We are doing our best so that the pool can be enjoyed again in the near future.
