A Public Meeting will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, February 11, 2020 at the Murray Christian Education Centre, 17 School Street, Town of Kensington. Following the Provincial COVID-19 measures, residents wishing to participate in person are requested to pre-register by contacting the Town Hall to provide their contact details (name and phone number) by email at [email protected] or by calling 902-836-3781 before 12:00 noon on Thursd...ay, February 11, 2021. Standard COVID-19 protocols (screening before entry for any symptoms, masking, social distancing, hand sanitizing, etc.) will be in place. Residents who are unable to attend but would like to provide written comments may do so by sending their comments to [email protected] or deliver to Town Hall at 55 Victoria Street E, PO Box 418, Kensington, PE C0B 1M0. The deadline for written submissions is February 11, 2021 at 2:00 PM. All responses will become part of the public record. The purpose of the meeting is to allow residents and other interested persons an opportunity to make representation concerning the following amendment to the Town of Kensington’s Official Plan and Zoning and Subdivision Control (Development) Bylaw and the applicants request for a variance as follows: To re-zone PID No. 915322 (Lot 8 Lion’s Drive) from Single Residential (R1) to Low Density Residential (R2) for the purpose of constructing a semi-detached (duplex) residential dwelling. To amend the Official Plan General Land Use Map in order to accommodate the above zoning designation. A 2’ variance on the NW side yard and a 3’ variance on the SE side yard in order to accommodate the development request of the applicant. A hardcopy of the Town’s Zoning and Subdivision Control Bylaw is available at the Kensington Town Hall or electronic versions can be downloaded from the website at: http://kensington.ca/. A copy of the application is also available for viewing at the Kensington Town Hall.

Wednesday, September 23, 2020 - All Classes Cancelled Due to the pending weather forecast associated with Hurricane Teddy, all classes in the Public Schools Branch have been cancelled for Wednesday, September 23.

On Saturday we held the official opening for our Emergency Reception Centre located at the Murray Christian Centre on School Street. We are very pleased to have this facility ready for use as we enter into hurricane season. As hurricane Teddy makes its way toward Prince Edward Island, we have added comfort that this facility will be available if needed.

Due to the pending weather, this event has been postponed until Tuesday, September 29th at 2pm. ---- Please join us for the John A Hogg ...- Kensington Public Forest re-launch ceremony celebrating the beautiful new signage and nature trail walk experience. The Heart of PEI working committee, The Town of Kensignton, and Island Trails have collaborated on a signage initiative showcasing the John A. Hogg trail experience. Bringing more visibility to locals and visitors, the new and vibrant signage helps to promote authentic experiences in the Heart of PEI region. Light snacks and refreshments will be donated by Mel’s Petro Canada. In accordance with the Province of PEI COVID - 19 regulations, we will be enforcing physical distancing and added safety measures. Meeting Location: Route 2, Bell Aliant Access Road (Behind Castle Building Centre)

Hurricanes and tropical storms are violent weather systems and are very unpredictable. Even a weakened system can carry high winds, heavy rain and flooding and can cause widespread destruction. Lawn chairs, barbeques, toys, trampolines, construction material, and other debris can be damaged and/or become dangerous projectiles. Seek shelter in a secure building and keep pets inside. Tree branch...es may break off, trees may topple and power lines may be downed. Prepare for power outages. Have emergency supplies on hand, such as a battery operated or wind up radio and flashlight, water, and non-perishable food. We can all recall the devastating results of Hurricane Dorian just over a year ago. As we head into the weekend residents and Islanders are encouraged to take time and ensure that your home (inside and outside) is ready for the potential impact from Hurricane Teddy.

Yesterday was a big day for our little Town. We are extremely proud and excited to be moving forward on our new business park.

We've had a fantastic summer at the EVK Swimming Pool. A big thanks to our life guards and to all the swimmers who visited us! Our last day of the season is Sunday, August 30. See you next year!
