Snow Update Jan 6 We're sanding and plowing across Priority 1 and Priority 2 roads. Small scale snow removal next to schools.... We're clearing large piles of snow on Priority 3 roads in Zones 1 and 8. Please stay clear of these piles and use caution when navigating around them. Removing snow piles from the residential areas across our Town will take time and we ask you do not approach operators while they are engaged in any snow clearing activity for the safety of yourself and the operators. Refer to Snow and Ice Control map on the Town’s website for route and zone information. We thank everyone for their continued patience and understanding as we continue with our snow clearing efforts across our Town. Further updates will be provided as they are available. The Town will begin enforcing a parking ban along Banister Dr from Banister Gate to Milligan Dr, to permit crews to complete snow and ice removal. The ban will be in effect Jan 7, 2021 from 7 AM to 7 PM. During the parking ban, all vehicles and obstructions must be removed from the road and the public is encouraged to use alternative routes wherever possible to ensure road crews can work efficiently and safely along that road. All other services such as waste collection, E...mergency Responders, and mail deliveries will not be impacted. Signs designating maintenance routes were installed along key traffic corridors in the community in November 2020 to enable the Town to issue temporary parking bans on these roadways. This enables the Town to be much more efficient in providing all road maintenance requirements, including snow clearing, street sweeping and road construction. Additional parking ban declarations should be expected in the coming days and weeks while crews continue to improve transportation networks to allow for the safe passage of vehicles and to ensure proper storm water management is achieved. Thank you for your support and assistance while crews continue to deliver road maintenance services for the community throughout the year. Details regarding parking bans are available at https://www.okotoks.ca/maintenance-routes For further inquiries, please contact Okotoks Municipal Enforcement (403) 995-6302 or the Transportation business centre (403) 938-8952.
