To our valued community supporters, It is with heavy hearts that we need to announce that we will not be able run one of our favourite fundraiser campaigns this... year: Firefighter in the Sky. We regret that we aren't challenging Captain Hegedus to sit at the top of our ladder truck. We feel that regret more keenly knowing those donations will be missing from our community food bank this season. We look forward to when our circumstances change, to when we are able to get together and support each other in familiar ways, to when we can put a Firefighter in the Sky for entertainment, community spirit and collect donations for a good cause. Until then, please remember the Westlock & District Food Bank this year. They are accepting cash and food donations and need our support.

Alberta’s next Municipal Election is October 18, 2021. The nomination period is longer this election, beginning on January 1, 2021, and continuing until 12 p.m. on nomination day, Monday, September 20, 2021. The Provincial COVID-19 update of December 8, 2020, introduced CMOH Order 41-2020 which prohibits indoor and outdoor social gatherings and makes masks mandatory provincewide. To comply with the provincial measures, the Town of Westlock is implementing the following changes: The Westlock Rotary Spirit Centre will be closed effective Sunday, December 13, 2020. The Westlock Aquatic Centre will be closed effective Sunday, December 13, 2020. The Westlock & District F.C....S.S. office will be open by appointment only. The Westlock Community Bus will be changing service to travel for primary health services only effective Monday, December 14, 2020. The Town of Westlock Office will be closed effective December 14, 2020. These changes will remain until further notice and are subject to change.

With the Province of Alberta announcing the Public Health Emergency on November 24, the Town of Westlock is implementing the following changes effective Friday, November 27, 2020: Town Office: Closed to public for drop-in visits, public may call to make an appointment Westlock & District F.C.S.S.: Closed to public, donations are still being accepted, call ahead to make an appointment... Westlock Rotary Spirit Centre: Facility hours 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday Individual or single household group bookings only for field house Group ice use is not allowed so ice time will be changed to public skating Gym is limited to a maximum of 13 people Walking track is open with one way traffic, no running Aquatic Centre: Monday to Friday and Sunday hours remain the same, Saturday hours are 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Swimming lessons and Aquafit are cancelled Aquafit times are changed to lane swim, allowing for individual movement within a lane Public swim is available, with limited capacity Gym is limited to a maximum of 13 people Individual or single household group bookings only of virtual rec room and racket court, no group rentals for Birthday parties etc. All facility usage will require pre-booking by phone call or online at www.westlock.ca. Westlock Town Council passed the Face Covering Bylaw 2020-22 at the October 26, Regular Meeting of Council. Effective Wednesday, October 28, 2020, it is mandatory for members of the public to wear a face covering or mask at all times while in a public place or a public vehicle. What is a face covering?... A medical or non-medical mask, or other face covering that fully covers the nose, mouth and chin, ensuring a barrier that limits the transmission of infectious respiratory droplets. How does the face covering bylaw affect you at work in an office? If you are in an office or cubicle separated from others by physical barriers or shields such as Plexiglas, you do not need to wear a mask o If you are in a shared hallway or space and it is not possible to maintain physical distance (2 metres), wear a mask If you are providing a service that requires personal consultation and are able to maintain physical distance, you do not need to wear a mask o If you are not able to maintain physical distance (2 metres), wear a mask If you are consuming food or drink in a designated seating area, you do not need to wear a mask o Please maintain physical distance (2 metres) and follow room capacity allowances How does the face covering bylaw affect you at work in a recreation facility? Make sure the person calling is wearing a mask. Keep a healthy distance from trick-or-treaters. If possible, hand out candy from the driveway, open garage, or lawn instead of your front door. You can print special Halloween posters to hang in your window or place on your door. They'll let trick-or-treaters know if you’re open for boo-ness and handing out candy this year.
