Special Town Council Meeting

Town of Wolfville 17.02.2021

Hi everyone! This is a friendly reminder that if you’re interested in registering for the Learn to Drum classes, it is recommended that you do so sooner than la...ter. It’s especially important this time, since we are having smaller classes to maintain a distance of 2 meters between participants. We would, of course, love it if you registered for both classes, but you can register for either or both of them, since they are not a repetition of each other. Each 4-week course will introduce and build upon 2 different West African rhythms. As mentioned on the poster, no prior experience is needed, and drums are provided, but the class can benefit drummers of all levels. If you are beyond the basics, we’ll adapt to meet you at your level. Here are link to register for the classes: Learn to Drum starting March 27: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/learn-to-drum-starting-march-27 Learn to Drum starting May 15: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/learn-to-drum-starting-may-15-t If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to send me a message. Kindly, Bruno. See more

Testing is Prevention: In response to the recently announced case of the UK variant of COVID-19 in New Minas and a few positive cases in the Sackville area, where the source of infection is unknown, Public Health is increasing its testing capacity in these locations to provide more opportunities for the community to get tested. Asymptomatic testing (testing people who show no symptoms of COVID-19) continues to be one of the tools that has helped limit the spread of COVID-19 i...n Nova Scotia. Testing is prevention. As the UK variant is showing to be more contagious, it is important for Public Health to know where and how the new variant is spreading. Public Health is encouraging everyone who lives in, or has travelled to, the communities between Wolfville and Berwick, and surrounding communities to get tested. The Public Health Mobile Unit will be in New Minas and Canning for the next four days to provide an opportunity for community-based testing. The Public Health Mobile Unit will be available for drop-in and pre-booked appointments at the following locations: New Minas Fire Department (6 Jones Rd., New Minas) Thursday, Feb. 25 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday, Feb. 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Canning Multi Complex (977 J Jordan Rd., Canning) Saturday, Feb. 27 and Sunday, Feb. 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. *Drop-in testing is based on capacity. It is recommended that you book your appointment online by visiting the self-assessment tool: https://covid-self-assessment.novascotia.ca/en or call 811. The Public Health Mobile Unit will also be setting up at the Sackville Heights Community Centre (45 Connolly Rd., Middle Sackville) starting Thursday, Feb. 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (drop-in testing only). Nova Scotia Health has added additional testing capacity at the Primary Assessment Centres (PACs) in Berwick and Wolfville to make it easier for more people in these communities to get tested. Please visit http://www.nshealth.ca/coronavirus for more details on these locations. Further dates and times to be announced. For more information visit: https://www.nshealth.ca//public-health-encouraging-people-

It has come to the Town of Wolfville’s attention that there is wording in the Town’s Voter Information Letter for the current municipal election that says ‘COUNCILLORS Vote for SIX of the following:’. This is misleading. The wording should be ‘COUNCILLORS Vote for up to SIX of the following:’ An elector is not required to vote for a total of six councillors and can vote for fewer if they choose. The instructions are clear and correct on the internet voting site - once an elector visits the site to cast their vote, it states: ‘Please select no more than SIX of the following:’ on the screen. The same message is included in the recorded message for anyone using telephone voting. Thank you.

Nice to see so many young people out and about on Saturday afternoon, participating in the (first annual?) Great Acadia Sneaker Rally. They explored every nook and cranny of our Town, learning about sustainability, history, and the many exciting opportunities and resources Wolfville has to offer. Thanks to all of the local businesses who donated prizes for the event, the students who participated, and the residents who welcomed them to their new community.
