We know many are interested in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine and are wondering when and where to get vaccinated. The Waterloo Region COVID-19 Vaccine Distribut...ion Task Force has developed a plan for five types of clinics that will give residents some choice where they will be able to go. These clinics will open as we receive more supply. The Task Force will use a variety of tools to communicate broadly when a new group is eligible to be vaccinated as well as when appointments can be booked for the general public. Tools include web, social media, and traditional media (radio, TV and newspaper) as well as regulatory bodies, professional groups and through community partners like primary care providers and pharmacists. While we wait for more vaccines to arrive in Waterloo Region, we thank you for your patience and your continued commitment to slow the spread of COVID-19 by following public health measures. Learn more about the vaccines at regionofwaterloo.ca/COVID19vaccine.

As we head into the weekend and our community continues to safely reopen, remember to keep practicing public health guidelines. Stay vigilant: physical distance, wear a mask, wash your hands and stay home if you're feeling unwell. Public Health reminds us that the gradual lifting of restrictions is not a return to normal and it's imperative we stay the course. Thank you for doing your part to keep our community safe.

North Dumfries is a kind, caring and compassionate community. Let's continue to show kindness and compassion towards our community members, especially during these challenging times. Whether it's doing something to help a neighbour or giving a friendly hello to someone you pass on the street, these small acts of kindness add up and make a difference.

Santa and his motorcade drives through Ayr this Saturday, leaving from the NDCC at 1:00 p.m. The Ayr - North Dumfries Lions Club has made arrangements for Santa to make his way through most of the village, which we estimate will take approximately 2 hours. Click on the event link for route details. We will be updating live from the route, so you can keep tuned to when Santa comes to your neighbourhood. Please remember to watch Santa from your front porch, front lawn or driveway. There will not be any road closures. If Santa is not coming down your street, walk to the closest street in your neighbourhood on the route to see Santa and remember to practice 2 metre physical distancing from others.

We are hearing from our local public health unit that there is a strong possibility the Region of Waterloo will be moved to the red zone in the Province's COVID-19 Response Framework in the near future. Under the red zone, there are restrictions for many of our recreation and leisure programs. Our Community Services staff have been contacting all of our user groups and fitness program providers to discuss what a red zone looks like for their program. Please continue to follow our facility rules as the community spread of COVID-19 is increasing. Our staff, our user groups, and fitness program providers are working together to implement the new restrictions we might see from the Province.
