Toronto Youth Cabinet 17.11.2020

Join us this Thursday at 6pm for our Virtual August Cabinet Meeting! The guest speaker for this month is a familiar face to some of you who have been with the TYC for a while now or are involved in the organizing space in the City - Riley Peterson! She is an effective organizer and communicator with over five years of experience in the fields of communications and advocacy, as well as issue-based and electoral campaign mobilization. Riley has worked as a Councillor's Aide to ...two Toronto City Councillors, and managed recent federal and municipal election campaigns. She was previously Director of Council Relations for the Toronto Youth Cabinet, the City of Toronto’s official youth advisory body. Born and raised in York South-Weston Toronto’s northwest end she works to build progressive power in her city, especially among young people! It is going to be exciting to talk to Riley about her experience at the TYC and how that helped her during her time with the Cabinet as well as in the work she has gone on to do since. Please note that in order to attend the meeting, you must RSVP. This is to ensure that the space is made available exclusively to youth aged 13-24. In an effort to demand that the provincial government and school boards take real and concrete action to tackle anti-Black and anti-Indigenous racism in Ontario schools, the TYC, along with 17 other provincial stakeholders have issued this joint statement. We are respectfully giving Education Minister @slecce 5 business days (1 week from today) to respond to this statement. You can also check out the statement on our website in the link in our bio.
